Cannot help with hydrotherapy services, but this link shows you details of support groups registered with FMA UK
Hi Shame there is no support group where you live, I’ve found one near where I live and meets once a month , I am yet too give it a try , i am wondering if your doctors surgery can refer you for hydro pool ? I would love too try one but again like you I hear hard too get in . Glad to see you’re using the forum it’s a good place for advice and information.
Have you tried looking at the websites for your local NHS hospitals to see which has a hydro pool , or ring the physio departments to see if they have one , and if you can self refer to that or need a referral via the GP.I had to do this as my GP had no idea our hospital had a pool and I could be referred to it.
Sometimes University Medical departments have hydro suites for sports science and research into treatments which they often lend out to chronic illness groups , so you may find that the local Arthritis or AS group get an exercise session in the hydropool. You may be able to find out from one of these groups if you can go to their sessions even for a taster or see if the Uni itself will help you get access to hydro there.
You may even be able to get access to a suite in a larger sports or football club if you are " canny" and feel confident enough to speak your case. There's no harm in trying !
If there aren't any local Fibro groups to go to face to face you can still take part in online / Zoom meetings with your nearest groups , even if they have gone back to regular meetings most accommodate the chance for those to I'll to attend in person to take part via computer. It may not be the ideal if you looking for face to face contact but it is better than no contact at all.
It's also worth looking up if there are any closer support groups not just for Fibro but for Chronic Pain , Managing Pain or Pacing yourself.
Or , you could contact the charity or go on Facebook and put out a request to see if there are a number of Fibro sufferers in your area that want to meet up , it's likely , and you could all meet and consider starting your own group together , registering with the charity for security and support.
Hope that helps , Bee
