I have had pneumonia twice in the past 8 weeks & have been left with a terrible burning pain in my mouth. Has anyone ever had this? If so how do you treat it. Dr say there is no cure for it, it is driving me insane.

Thank you for your reply. I will give the sponge thing a try but just use water, anything citrusy seems to make it sting feel worse. I am drinking a lot of water & the odd glass of milk. I also use corsodoyl mouth wash & Sensodine toothpaste, which I can only use the smallest drop as it causes my mouth to foam up & feels like what I can only describe as fire. Dentist has given my mouth a thorough check over, xray etc.. & he says my mouth appears to be healthy but BMS is a common syndrome with no cure 🤔 😢
There's a toothpaste called Squigle (I think that's right) which is SLS-free and mint-free but is also horribly sweet, which I find a problem. It might suit you, though.
As moo196 says, Corsodyl could be making things worse.
Have you just been left with this dead-end diagnosis?
Sorry you’ve been so unwell. I suffer a similar condition called Geographical tongue. My tongue burns and has lesions on it depending on how I am feeling and what I am eating. My GP was no use really but my dentist prescribed a mouth wash (Difflam) and boy what a difference it has made to me. Also suggested to use Sensodyne Pronamel as there is an ingredient that exacerbates it that is not in Sensodyne.
I have that too and my dentist suggested Difflam is amazing clears the soreness ,it just might help and worth trying .I’m sorry your suffering it’s a nightmare ,I have dry mouth with geographical tongue sometimes my mouth is so dry my tongue sticks to roof of my mouth and I can’t speak .All the best .😇
I'm so sorry you are suffering the same thing. Dentist looked into my mouth & didn't mention difflam. I will speak to the Pharmacist at my local Pharmacy. I am waiting to make a call to my GP from 8am this morning.... I don't hold out much hope that I will get an answer as the phone doesn't even have a chance to ring. It's all so frustrating & I don't want to end up going back to A&E, I need more antibiotics & steroids for my chest. I don't know how I am holding it together, I fear if I start crying I won't stop.
I had this for months when I was going through the menopause. After trying so many things I read about alpha lipoid acid. I tried it - 600mg per day on an empty stomach and it was gone in a couple of days. It did come back occasionally and I went straight to the capsules for relief.
I've had this for nine years, following dental treatment. Like you, I have to avoid anything acidic, as well as all sorts of other things. Please be careful, as the restricted diet can make you even more unwell. Could you try smoothies with ingredients that wouldn't aggravate the pain?
Hi , I have this and my worst flair up lasted a year, doctors were useless but my rheumatologist diagnosed me low on iron and folic acid. Once I started treatment with iron 210mg & folic acid life at last got better but I still have to watch my triggers. Antibiotics are a trigger. My mouth now is quite good and I’m still taking iron. At my worst my life was unbearable, still can’t eat curry s and anything with chilli, tomatoes, citrus and fizzy drinks but I’m doing good so there really is life after pain…
