I am having all sorts of health issues and numerous blood tests, all coming back satisfactory. I am 75 years old and expect to feel the effects of advancing age, but everything seems to have hit me all at once. I looked online for perhaps some indication of at least one of my symptoms and came across fibromyalgia. I was beginning to feel that the doctor hadn’t really listened to me and so I made an appointment (not that easy!!) with my doctor to perhaps look at the possibility of my having fibromyalgia. I was almost pleased when she said “that sounds likely “, although I am still not convinced.
I am I would be very grateful if anyone who suffers from fibromyalgia will read my symptoms. I trust one who lives with this multi faceted illness, over that of my doctor. I have been given no treatment. Extreme fatigue…. Burning flushes in legs, together with deep aching pain radiating from hips down my legs….. Difficulty in walking due to that pain….. Bloating…..Lack of concentration….Stinging pains on right side of my head and bad of skull.
I hope someone can give me some advice. Thank you for reading this. MKF

I am so sorry to hear you are in so much pain and feel like you are not being listened to. Fibromyalgia is a very complex thing to live with. It has many symptoms so is hard too diagnose, you do sound to have some of them however I think you need to talk with another doctor or health worker who will maybe spend more time with you, who will take time to listen to you if possible. There may be other people on here that can help you better than I can but I didn't want you to feel alone, I know you needed help and answers so I knew I had to reach out to you. Please don't give up looking for answers I am sure someone else on here will answer you soon. gentle hugs Kuipo
Bless you for your kind reply. I don’t seem to have support from my doctor and so need to self support as per this site. I have learned so much from reading posts and replies to sufferers from fibromyalgia. I have dealt with depression for quite a few years and feel as though all the many symptoms I have relayed to my doctor have been overlooked and merely been associated with that. Thank you again for your reply
dear Luigi, I have fibromyalgia and other health issues not related to fibromyalgia. What you describe re the pain in hips radiating into legs stabbing and burning pain is very much like what I get with fibromyalgia your diet tor needs to refer you to rheumatologist to get the correct diagnosis. I have also had the stinging pain in my head had it for almost three weeks the doc told me it was a virus and to take pain killers. It did eventually get better but made me feel quite poorly. I took vitamin c to help me get over the stinging in my head it was mainly at the back of my head but everyone is different. For the fibro I take magnesium capsules do not take more than the recommended amount as it can adversely affect your heart only take the recommended amount this helps me with the sharp pain I also take quercetin vitamin b12 and b complex vitamin D3 and Q10 sometime I take Flarin when pain is really bad I have discussed with the doc and was told if it helps then take them. I have had blood tests done and x rays all have come back normal and was diagnosed officially last year as having fibromyalgia, I suspect I have had this for a number of years but it was overlooked as it is not easy to diagnose.
I would think all of us on this site can relate to those symptoms. You need a diagnosis so that your can rule out other scary things. All those symptoms make you feel awful. I've coped with most of them most of the last thirteen years or so because I have a good traditional acupuncturist and chiropractor. (Both have explained weakness in areas of my body (though in different ways) that helped + treatment. - The neck problems ring a bell with me. Sounds like top one or two vertabrae could be a problem that needs careful adjustment by a traditional, properly qualified chiropractor. You could try massaging your vagus nerve - see youtube vids but some joint calming and strengthening weak areas in your (chinese) meridian system might also give you a boost. If you are to cope with fibro, you need to be able to walk. -I was 75 all of last year! Hope you have a better year coming.
Dear Kuipo, having just read your post, I have to comment. I too have the deep aching pain in my hips & it often radiates down my legs usually at the front & some times this goes as far as my knees. But the deep aching pain & often a very severe cramping pain deep in my hips causes me difficulty walking also. I have discussed this with my GP on a telephone consultation to ask if I could in increase my Amitriptyline again to see if it helps. He agreed to the increase, but also wants me to have a face to face appointment with him & investigations to rule out other possible causes. I’m sure it’s part of my Fibromyalgia but appreciate that he wants to make sure it’s not caused by any other possible problem. Hope this helps, x
