Heat flare

PenelopeClearwater profile image

I’m guessing everyone can relate to this one. I’m really struggling with all over body pain because of this heatwave! And the prickly heat is awful!

Anyway, I’m doing all the things I need to, but wanted to come here to vent as I’ve been a bit MIA lately (just stress induced flare ups and now the heat…) 😅

I hope you’re all coping as well as you can - sending lots of ice cold hugs 🥶

💙

MIA? It’s so warm here in Wales today, too warm to do anything even if I felt up to it lol🌞😓

I tend to do a lot better painwise in the heat (granted we are a bit cooler up here in Scotland).... Where I do struggle is with fatigue and brain fog.

Not at all. Heat IMPROVES my pain :-). I really struggle with the colder weather, and I suffer from bad pain flares (like you describe) throughout winter and colder months. This heat is impacting my fatigue though, as I feel more sluggish, but it’s not impacting my pain levels for worse, like you. Please remember to drink lots of water and to keep hydrated. Hope you feel better soon.

I get aches and spasms in the cold weather, but it’s not as bad as in the excessive heat! I’m keeping hydrated and have a (very noisy) ac unit in my room - just hope it manages through this heat 😅

Thank you and hope you’re feeling ok 😊

Cold weather definitely makes my fibromyalgia pain worse - which is typical for most fibromites. That’s why a lot of fm people will say they feel better when going somewhere warmer on holiday outside of UK, or why hydrotherapy (exercise in heated water) helps fibromites so much :-)

Although - a few - like yourself may have pain flares from heat 😢. I definitely feel more sluggish/fatigued with the heat but thankfully no additional pain. Extreme heat can be a trigger for migraine for me though, so I am watching out for that - hydration in hot weather is key! Also spray yourself with water (helps cooling) from a spray bottle if you can :-) take care x

As it's so hot here in the S.E. I do so little that pain is limited...Lying around in a darkened room for days on end is not pleasant though...

30° already!!!

I slept downstairs as it was too hot upstairs.

Sleep didn't happen but I sprayed my limbs all night with a garden spray to keep a bit cooler...

Bitten by mosquitoes all night though!

Tricky few days???

Oh no! Those flipping mozzies! I got some fly mesh and magnet strips for my windows, so at least I’m not getting bugs, but I woke up to a 30degree room at 5am (also in SE!) it’s bonkers weather - I’m just holding out for tomorrow…

Keep cool and keep drinking plenty of water!

I’ve also been wearing a wet flannel around my neck, which has been helping… 🥵

Can anyone relate to being glad that the "darker summer" has now at last started after the summer solstice, meaning: shorter light, longer darkness, quieter birds - better for sleep...? Then comes the dark snug winter and then the nice bright hopeful winter after Christmas/winter solstice... Since I've discovered this I'm more at peace with what the seasons bring me, looking for the positives.

Yes! I have always loved this approach to autumn and winter 🥰

I have always fared better in cooler weather - humidity is not my friend!!
