Bruising

Hello everyone, hope you are having one of your better days and able to enjoy the day. I’m newly diagnosed with fibromyalgia and this is my first post although I have read many and have learnt a lot. I thank you for that. I seem to get a lot of little bruises usually on my upper arms and occasionally around my ankles. I just wondered if anyone else has this and if it is linked to fibromyalgia? Thanks and best wishes to you all x

People can get bruising , especially if their skin is also sensitive.Quite often it can be because you have a vitamin B12 deficiency.

You can get your Vitamin B12 , Vitamin D and iron checked by the GP , explain the bruising and remind them of your Fibro diagnosis and how low Vitamin can add to the pain .

Always helpful at the beginning of an illness.

If you are low in these vitamins the GP will prescribe some for you.

You should also drink the recommended amount of water each day and take a vitamin and mineral daily supplement to help maintain your body functions.

Take vitamins during or just after your fattiest meal ( often breakfast or evening) you absorb more of the supplement if digested with food , and many of the vitamins are fat soluble so need fat to be absorbed.

Try Arnica gel or cream to bring down the bruising ( as long as you can use it ).

Protect the areas that bruise more with socks , tights or thicker clothing .

Hi and a warm welcome to the forums. You can find general information on fibromyalgia at our website fmauk.org and our patient information booklets at fmauk.org/publications

There is no evidence that bruising is connected directly to fibromyalgia, however some people find that they do bruise easier

I'm the opposite, even when I've got something hard enough that I would expect a bruise, there's nothing

I can go to bed and wake up with bruising. Been like that all my life. Blood tests came back ok.

Honestly don't think its fibro related. Some folks just bruise easier than others.

Since my fibro diagnosis I've had bruises, more frequently. These last few years I get them much much worse or more frequently.

I'm on a slight blood thinner, turmeric. To treat my fibro. So this is probably helping them appear. And helping them look worse, like getting a really dark one for a small bump into something.

Maybe having a conversation with your doctor to rule out other causes.

Hello and welcome to our forum. I get bruises, on my arms and legs mainly, sometimes on my body too. I put it down to my clumsiness as I am always walking into things etc. So not a direct link to Fibromyalgia, but my clumsiness is.

Not what you're looking for?
