Hi Diane, I see you are new to the group. Let me be the first to wish you a very warm welcome.

I have very painful OA in my fingers. I find it helps to bathe them ina bowel of warm water at least 3 times a day when they are bad.

I have also at times rubbed a little of the ibuprofen in to my hands.

Never tried it myself but hear warm wax helps?

Hi Momo can thoroughly recommend the hot wax treatment. I have severe osteoarthritis and it really helps. Was given a hot wax bath for my hands as a present, it's brilliant and leaves my hands soft as a baby's you know what😂

the absolute best thing I have ever done wrt pain in my hands is to give up diet coke and everything else with artificial sweeteners in. I checked all labels from puddings to ketchup. Worth a try?

Have you ever tried pressure gloves? Magnesium spray/cream or Ibuprofen gel suggested by Dizzytwo might help.

Where would I get pressure gloves? I'm new to fibromyalgia only got diagnosed at the beginning of the year, my go told me to go home your getting old and bound to ache!! That was three years ago I was 53. So I'm just getting used to my diagnosis xx

Awful isn't it, had that experience with a "consultant" before, think I was in my late thirties early forties at the time!🙄

This might give you an idea on what to look for

Hi Diane. I'm also new to Fibromyalgia, but I've found one thing that helps with hand pain. I gently rub in a pain gel that has diclofenac in it. Mine has 1.16 % in it. It enables me to function.

I'll say what helped me. Arms by your side Palms facing towards body

Lift arms to 90 degrees palms down. Palms paraleel to floor.

Bend wrist upwards fingers ar trying to towards the sky

turn arm over (rotating backwards) so fingers are trying to point downto the floor. Can you feel the stretch?

Do this slowly, deliberatly, gently. Concentrate. Don't force, or overdo. Five times is probably a good number of reps. But try for Multiple short sessions throughout the day.

Think this was a youtube Brad and Bob exercise. They are very good at stretching out what ails you.

Don't know why your hands are sore. Mine was a wrist thing. Like carpel tunnel but not. This helped to firsly bear the pain and then fix it to quite a good degree. Still got to be careful. Writing and doing strenuous work, opening jars etc doesn't help. Gardening which I used to enjoy is a trouble. Grasping all those pesky weeds is a killer.

While my hands were sore, it was impossible to get comfy to even sleep never mind use them for doing stuff! Now sleeping is so much easier. And I can do bits so long as I don't overdo. Hurrah for Brad and Bob! They have come up trumps when the physio and Drs have been clueless. Stretches are defo worth a try.
