I can't sleep 😭

So here I am again, awake during the wee small hours of the night...... again!!!!!

I spoke to my GP this week and after mitrazipine not agreeing with me (I consumed the entire contents of my kitchen cupboards and swelled up like a balloon!) he's given me a prescription for Finnagen? I think that's what he said, I haven't picked it up yet. Has anyone else heard of this or is using it? I'd be very grateful if anyone has any info about it 🙏. For the rest of you that are awake at the moment, my thoughts are with you and I hope you manage to get some sleep soon 😴

Not getting sleep is horrendous. I hope you get some relief soon.I assume you’re doing the basics for good sleep hygiene? I expect the doc has been through that. What happens when you try to sleep?Phenergan is probably what they’ve given you. It’s actually an antihistamine but it is also used to help with sleep and motion sickness. Works a treat with labyrinthitis I’ve found. It’s not meant to be used long term, just for getting you back on track. I only need 5mg but you can get 25mg capsules.

Thank you for that. Didn't realise its a antihistamine, makes sense. I have a fan, salt lamp and I listen to audio books and thunderstorms. It's not staying asleep that's the trouble it's actually going to sleep. Pain, restless legs etc you know how it is. Thank you very much for your response x

I have found that if I don’t go to sleep before 10pm my brain switches back on, especially around 11pm. Them it’s anything from 1-3 hours to getting to sleep.

I find phenergen helps me stop the waking up. I’m a bit groggy when I wake up but sleeping through the night is worth it

I'm a bit anxious about waking up with what feels like a hangover, thank you for making me aware x

It isn’t quite as bad as the ‘normal’ sleeping tablets but it very much depends on the dose. It only takes 5mg for me but some people happily pop 25mg capsules. The only way I can get a dose low enough to feel ok next day is to use the liquid but I can no longer get it without a prescription because apparently some with drug addictions inject it I was told. I think it also comes in 10mg too so it might be worth asking for that so you have more flexibility if the liquid is a non starter.

I'm taking piriton at the moment for my tree allergies but also helps with the sleep. I have restless legs so I drink a glass of tonic water daily (not the diet one) and spray my legs with magnesium oil before I go to bed - still going through my menopause after 5 years which clashes with the fibro. Yay! Take care:)

Ooooo bless you. I'm sure mine is just around the corner, I'm about to turn 50 this month! Hope I can get myself some sleep to help me deal with that!🥴x

Good morning

Well I got off to sleep at 10pm last night and I've been awake since 4am this morning, arggh!!

My bladder woke me, I used the toilet and my hands had kicked off with pain so I decided to get up. I have my wrist supports on right now and I'm feeling better now.

Yes I tried Phenergan but never again!!!! The first night I took it I was dead to the world. I slept the whole evening and night that day. The second night I took it again 8.30pm and I was sitting in the lounge and I felt dizzy and disoriented and I didn't feel as though I was on this planet!!!!!! I stopped taking them immediately. I had had enough by this point.

I also take Mirtazapine 15mg at night, I wouldn't say that it has increased my appetite but the Duloxetine certainly has. I am lucky I guess, I have put on a few pounds but I can still get in my jeans👖👍

My bladder woke me at 4am and then the pain started in my hands, if I hadn't been in pain I may have gone back to sleep!!! I am taking Oxybutyin again, I tried it about a month ago to stop my bladder working overtime in the night. It didn't help me this morning though!!!

Hope you had a good nights sleep last night

Take care Xx ❤🙂❤
