05:30 another night with no sleep but I'm cramming my brain with documentaries! How much stays in I know not! Time for a mint tea before the household awakes! A pain free, paced day both giving and receiving love to you all

Morning Hartley.

I have been stuffing myself with US cop shows.- at least yours was a little more educational than mine.

Now I am ready to go to bed everyone else is ready to get up.

Will I ever get it right?

I know hearing the dawn chorus and everyone is fast asleep. When they have gone I put in the ear plugs and sleep til 12 usually if I can. An upside down world my friend 🙃🙃🙃

Another Patrik here...my solution after 3 years suffering....Quetiapine! !!

Hartleyhare2 profile image
Hartleyhare2 in reply topata99

Is that off scrip for sleep disorder Patrick,or what it's originally intended for? I've tried most sleepers and I have been on Ambien fot last two years and it doesn't touch me any more so looking to try something else

I have also tried everything...until a psychiatrist suggested QUETIAPINE. Its not intended for sleepisorder but the sideeffect is tremendous for it. You dont want to know what its for in the first place. This has saved my life...you WILL sleep like a baby. It also turns to a metabolit in your body called N1 that acts as a happy trigger in your system. Nothing to worry about I feel just fine and finally I can sleep!!

Hi Pat, I looked up what it was and originally intended for, strong stuff. Are you in the UK and got it prescribed? My GP very good and will prescribe what he can in uk.

Cheers Pat!

hehe,it's from the Ben Elton school,a lot like Black Adder etc but about Shakespeare.yep! If we formed a pub quiz team we'd be barred from pubs for thrashing em! Lol.

Ahh I'd probably love it as like black adder. Read a mad book by Ben Elton about a guy who invented perfect electrical car engines twenty years ago and the oil companies were trying to kill him! Whatever happened to Ben Elton?

Sorry you are not sleeping. I've been there fortunately my sleeping habits have improved. I don't know what I can put it down to. One reason might be the Butrans patch.

Without sleep we cannot function and just makes our pain worse. One wonders how you carry on through the day. But we do.

Hoping you will find some kind of relief that will help your sleepless nights.

Thank you I have taken a long time to get it in my head it's all about pace. I'm getting there. Having several debilitating problems very hard to come to terms with yes, you are disabled.

Let's hope your strategy works 😉

Hi Jen, it's strange how many of us have several health issues as well as Fibro to cope with. I think it's called co morbidity which sounds scary! I have insulin dependent diabeties, chronic fatigue, restless leg syndrome and IBS. I wonder if it's because it's a central nervous system disorder or our immune systems are low from having fibro?

Jenharri profile image
Jenharri in reply toHartleyhare2

Possibly I have Psoriasis psoriatic arthritis Osteo widespread in all joints. DDD L4L5 L5S1 pressing on nerve sciatic numbness pins & needles etc. That pain, I wanted to shoot myself! I suppose we've all felt like that.

Fibro I was diagnosed by consultant Rheumatologist, 15 years ago, very elderly, he was on the ball! Psoriasis started after that and so on. I think you have something there?

I know my immune system has been compromised I had 2 bouts of shingles. A couple of months ago I developed Erythema Nodosum (rare) very painful lumps and swellings appeared on my shins. Legs were painful for weeks. Doc said its your body turning on itself whilst you are tryin to fight something else!!!

Unpleasant sufferings, I think we are all brave because we are living with it and carrying on even thought it is very very hard.

Hi Jen, sounds like you have a lot on your plate to deal with. I truly admire your positive and courageous attitude. I've heard shingles is awful and we could chat for ages about backs! Interesting what your Dr said about body turning off to fight elsewhere. I'm an insulin dependent diabetic, I aim to be at 7 which is my comfort level, the docs would like it a bit lower but I get the shakes at 6. Anyway sometimes I read my blood sugar and it can be 20, even though I haven't eaten anything! What it means is that my body is fighting an infection somwhere in my body. Hopefully they will do more research into Fibro soon. I'm cynical but if pharma don't think they are going to make money they won't do the research.

Thank you Patrick. Yes backs the bane of most depending what kind of course 😉

Strange how you get to 7 anything below gives you the shakes proof that's where your body feels at its best.

I get the shakes if I havent eaten enough and have burnt up to much energy stress etc. It's a most horrible feeling. I go around stuffing myself and invariably end up with a headache.

Well I think you're a ⭐️ All those added extras sent to try us.

Take care

Hi Patrick,

I sleep a lot better than I did, but I remember staying up and watching all sorts on the tv. I would like to think that I was learning something, but I don't think much was absorbed either, but it was definitely interesting! Hope you have managed to get a few hours sleep. Have a good day one and all. :-)

Hartleyhare2 profile image
Hartleyhare2 in reply toLtAngua52

Thanks not a wink last night but will try and keep awake today as much as possible, maybe a short afternoon nap otherwise it's back to sleeping in the day and wide awake at night. Have a great day and pace yourself. X

Morning, ha ha beat you to it 4.30, blinking nightmare, as well as the tossing and turning all night, which hasn't helped my back. I have just woken my lot from their slumber. Hope you can get some 💤💤💤 soon take care.

Thanks Blue, bright eyed and bushy tailed at the moment even ate some toast with marmite for my B12! I know at some point I will crash! At least I only have a 14 year old who lets himself in and I leave a pile of healthy snacks and water he will check on me and leave me sleep until dinner or the sound of him killing things on his Xbox wakes me!

in reply toHartleyhare2

Mine would be the Bass guitar, although she doesn't plug the amp in, she is currently taking her GCSE so she is quite Knackered her self 😬 I hope nothing gets killed today lol and wakes you. Happy 💤💤💤

At least its documentaries - I watch crimes - CSI, happy valley, Luther sort of series - by the time I Fall to sleep I think we are going to get murdered or worse!😩. - no wonder I can't sleep!!! - the thing my friends can't understand I love all that type of TV but - pass out when they take my bloods. !!!! have a great day !!😊😊

My wife loves books about gruesome murders and films too, especially the dark moody Scandinavian ones. Sometimes I'm glad I haven't life insurance. About the blood my wife is terrified of needles and she's a nurse😂😂😂 fortunately she works in intensive care where they are all asleep an injections are put in through the lines! 😳

Morning Patrick

Have you tried Nytol? I have tried everything to help me sleep but nothing has worked.

I'm on enough meds to put an elephant to sleep for a week but I still don't sleep.

I bought some Nytol (the pale blue one) in sheer desperation, and they work! It's worth a try.

Hugs. Lu xx

My-chinaman profile image

My daughter suggested nytol I think I will try this anything that works is fine by me xx take care xx

Hartleyhare2 profile image
Hartleyhare2

Hi Lu 😊, I will try it out of desperation as you say. Lack of sleep then exhaustion is one of the main stumbling blocks to me living a more normal life is a routine. It's difficult to keep an appointment when you don't know wether you will look like a spaced out zombie! I take Ambien at the moment which a I think is about the strongest you can get in UK and they just don't work anymore. I'm also on mast, oramorph, tramadol, codrymydol and Diazipam and even that lot doesn't put me down. I think I need a general anaesthetic or to see a large animals vet! I don't drink so a wee dram is out of the question, not a good idea with the drugs anyway

I don't know if it's something I'll just have to get used to but I shall certainly give the Nytol a go, Valaerian as a homeopathic option has also been suggested. It's actually a bigger problem than the pain now!

Great to hear from you, hope your doing well

Hugs n wishes

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I think stress is a great trigger for fibro, flare ups and sleep disturbance. My night and days are back to front. Bad enough on your own but with a wife and fourteen year old it really mucks up the household though bless them they never complain.
