I have been on Sertraline for almost 3 weeks now. However, I've been suffering from dizziness & constipation on them. GP suggests I give it longer as symptoms may ease. Have any of you had these symptoms & do they subside?

Sertraline side effects
Hi Jian77 I started on Sertraline 50mg about 7 weeks ago and I haven't had any side effects other than an increased appetite. For me taking Sertraline has been a huge benefit. My mood has improved, I've got a lot more interest in my life again and I am slowly starting to plan a future. All things that weren't possible for me pre meds. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you can overcome the dizziness and constipation the benefits of the Sertraline will be well worth it I'm sure. What dosage are you on?
Hi, side effects are different with each individual, however the benefits are fantastic and do make you feel better if you can get through the first week's, I was taken them for a year but put on pound a week as thay do make increase your appetite, hope that helps
All normal. Give it time. Was the same for me. Get lots of rest and just be good to yourself xxx
Hi, I've been on Sertraline for 2 years or so. My dose is 150mg every morning. I have been on various antidepressants for many years but this one has the least side effects and I wouldn't want to be without it. Give it a bit longer, you can always take something for the constipation. I know everyone is different but I think you should maybe give it a few months. Hope this helps. 😊
Thanks for the replies. I'm on 50mg of Sertraline per day. The thing I am most worried about is the constipation because I suffer from diverticulosis & IBS as well. GP isn't worried and says I should stick it out for a few more weeks. I've to make appointment for a few weeks time. I will just need to be more patient. 😊
I agree with the others, side effects are unique to the patient and as your doctor stated they will lessen over time.
The only other thing I would say to you, is that sometimes you have to try several different SNRIs to find the right combination for you.
Bear with it during this difficult time, the long term benefits far outweigh this period.

Hi the symptoms do go away I know it takes a different amount of time with different types of people but I wouldn't have made it this far without the help of my old gp ( I miss him terribly he understood everything I was going through) then I stupidly moved town, but persevere for a while yet and if their still not settling go back to your GP. All the best and big gentle hugs.x
