side effects
Hiya
I'm taking duloxetine. I had such a bad time switching from citalopram, the withdrawal was horrible.
I found some decent advice online about withdrawal and side effects of the duloxetine, I picked up a few decent tips on how to deal with specific ones but I think it's very personal how you will be affected though.
I'm pleased I switched as my mental health is better controlled but it's had no effect on pain I don't think.
I also take nortriptyline which are also an antidepressant but s different type. They are prescribed to help me sleep but I'm not sure if they help but they might be contributing to my moods being stable so I'm continuing to take them.
I do take quite a cocktail of other stuff too so it's hard for me to know exactly what helps what sometimes.
All the best

Hi Clare,
I also had a bad reaction to three days on nortriotylene. That one caused CPRS, I felt like I'd been covered in chilli oil, & scrubbed with a brillo. ;'(

I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are struggling and suffering with the effects of this medication, and it is not one that I have used but I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck with finding the answers that you are looking for.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
For the 1st week on it I was spaced out, I've been taking it for coming up to a year now and it does help me with the pain, I know this because I came off it for a bit. Everyone reacts differently to meds and it is trial and error, talk to your doctor.
Hi Diane,
I took this for three days, & had dreadful side effects. The worst being bruxus. My jaw locked up so badly, I needed diazepam to ease the pain, & I felt so bad I was suicidal. I also lost my sense of taste.
Anti-depressant my a***!

I have just stopped it as I tried it for two weeks and the suicidal thoughts were horrid, hoping my head gets back to normal soon whatever normal is !
I have been taking Duloxetine for 2½ years now. Initially the side effects were bad, and I almost gave up. The only reason I continued was because the thigh pain I was experiencing before I took it was worse than the side effects.
The side effects did settle down after the first month or so, and for me the pain relief is what keeps me taking it. The only side effect I get now is that if I take it after mid day it keeps me awake at night.
I suggest you try to stick with it for 4-6 weeks before making a decision on it, unless the side effects are unbearable, in which case you'll need to see your doctor.
Good luck. Em xx
I'm on Duloxatine - have been for ages. I have awful thoughts when things are bad....but generally I'm ok. I also have Pregabalin. Hydroxychlorine was the one that started me feeling nervous and not good at all.
Hope you are feeling better now. Hx
