I'm in a dilemma!!!
Hello everyone,
Has anyone ever had bad side effects whilst on Pregabalin?
I'm in a dilemma!!!
Yes I have for anxiety, but they was mild side effects as was only on them 10 days but since read about the other side effects that's way way worse
I've read case studys on all the information on pregabalin and gabapentine, I was in a group on Facebook called Lyrica Survivor's they was telling everyone about loose crumbling teeh, hair falling out or being dry, breaking etc and loads of other things due to the way the pills suck calcium out of your body, you need calcium for strong teeth bones and hair,
all the studies about it all and proof is out there on the net
For a start I took 2 secs and found this random poor who said this:
"It seems that since I've been taking Lyrica it seems that my teeth have been "demineralizing" of sorts. Starting with enamel chipping and flaking off in medium sizes, then larger pieces and the inside 'pulp' of my teeth has become spongy. I have had pain with this on top of the pain caused by my Fibromyalgia and my Chronic Post-Herpetic Neuralgia.
Pfizer don't even put it as a side effect but that woman above is just one proof

Its terrible that Doctors will put us on these meds?
Thanku for your input! Much appreciated.
So, that's why my teeth took such a turn for the worse 9 years ago..... As usual, I put it down to being 'my fault' for not always having the energy to brush my teeth 'properly'.
I'm now clear of pregablin, but the side effects of coming off it were as horrendous as the side-effects of starting on Duloxetine.
Luckily, I'm off both now and managing my own pain in my own way!
Trouble is, I'm left with fewer teeth and major bills for replacements.... and the pain of regular visits to my dentist....
I'm also left with HUGE feelings of anger, not just for the years of being denied I was ill, followed by the years of being on too many drugs that didn't work (and their ineffectiveness denied, too!) but also for not having enough of my brain left to think my way out of 'being done to' by the medical system.
What do I do with all this anger?
and grief, for the life and home I loved, and for the years I lost...?
Sorry, I feel sad today...
dx
Bless you!
Life always throws spanners along our paths! It's how we all pull together and help each other cope! That's our strengths xx
At my 'worst', I was taking 175mg pregablin morning and night, plus 100mg midday. I can't say they 'worked' (as I was still in pain) and I can't say they didn't (because, at least, taking them made my 'all in my head' pain REAL, and that was soooo reassuring considering that's what I'd been told by some GPs and osteopathic consultants.... )
At least they didn't make me fall over (as Amitryptiline had done) or see flashing lights (as with Tramadol)!
Today, I remembered a friend (who, sadly, died last year despite being MUCH younger and fitter than me) had once asked me "What brings you Joy, and what brings you Peace" (that was 20 years ago, and the quest for the answers had me move home, change career, get a dog and ..... find Peace and Joy in my life).
Having had to give up so much of myself, and my life, to 'Being ill', I could no longer face asking myself those questions.
Today, I reminded myself of what Caroline had asked me (her name deserves to be mentioned here) and cuddled both cats (most mornings, having fed them, I go back to bed and they curl up either side of me - THEY don't get on. Being the meat in a 2-cat sandwich is what brings me Peace now) then, put on a warm coat and bright pink gloves, I went to Exploris again.
Exploris is an aquatic wildlife centre less than a mile from where I live. All of it lifts my spirits, and are 2 areas that bring me most JOY!!!, are:
- the hospital for injured or washed up baby seals (Aaaaaah!!!), and
- the Egyptian Otter breeding project.....
I've come back, warmed to my heart, and 'indulging' in a glass of Progigio in Caroline's honour!
Thank you for being there (and for your Avatar's pic - I love it!)
dee x
P.S. Passing on those questions:
- What brings you Peace?, and
- What brings you Joy?
I've been taking pregabalin for several years and the only major side effect was weight gain. I also know several others who take it without any major side effects
Thankyou, I'm hearing awful things,....
Hi I was on pregabalin for about 6 months - less pain I walked better BUT had to stop taking it - problems with teeth, and big weight gain - neese x
Hi 👋 For some Pregabalin has been great. For me, it was a nightmare.. It affected my brain and caused a bad reaction and I kept falling asleep. Once I fell asleep outside school waiting for my child. That's when I stopped and was put on Gabapentin which was loads better. I take it for spinal and nerve pain in Lupus. I'm taking Amatriptaline for Fibro. It depends how it affects you personally. Xxx
Been having issues with teeth but didn't put it down to lyrica will mention it to dentist next time i see him in 4 weeks other than that nothing
I have stopped Pregabalin because it caused breathing difficulties. Also I had problems with small print which resolved the vision problems but not the breathing difficulties.
