Statutory sick pay

I have been off work now for almost 12 months. My employer has now stopped paying my wage ( been on 1/2 pay for 6 months). I am still employed and will be applying for I'll health retirement when I have enough evidence to meet the NHS requirements. My query is am I entitled to claim statutory sick pay or any other kind of benefit as I will have no income after the beginning of October?

Yes, you can apply to DWP for that. It’s not much but better than nothing. There is some form filling to do however but it’s fairly straightforward😊

Hi, you can contact FMA UK's benefit helpine on 0300 999 0055 (Mon, Wed, Fri 10.00-12.00) or email benefits.advice@fmauk.org and they can hopefully give you information on applying for ssp

Hi Christine. If you're still employed, your employer should pay you SSP. As Alb2 said, it isn't much but is better than nothing.

Hi thanks but I have reached the end of my SSP, it's only payable for 28 weeks. I will be contacting the DWP as advised.

Hi I am in the same position as you.

I don’t receive anything from work but claim esa for 12 months as I have paid full contributions previously. I am in the not working group.

I had a phone assessment when my pay and ssp came to an end. Hurry up and call dwp, as said before every little helps x

You can claim ESA, in fact you could have claimed it when you went to half pay, I am in the same boat, i am currently on half pay (2 mths left) and going through ill health retirement, I claimed ESA when i came of SSP and 6mths full pay and onto 6mths halfpay, I have mulitple issues and am off following two hand operations that have left me with nerve damage, however the ESA work capability assessment test only focused on my fibromyalgia and i was put into the support group based on fibro alone, this is an extra £114.10 a week. you can also claim PIP.

I would assume you have already been paid SSP as this is paid for the first 28 weeks that you go sick, if you were on full pay for 6mths then half pay, it was paid as part of the 6mths full pay as mine was. ( im local authority which is run much the same as NHS)

Claim ESA now and you will be put on assessment phase which is £74 a week untill you are assessed which takes about 3mths or so, then either placed in support group ( £114 a week and do not have to look for work or submit fit notes) or placed in the work group and left on £74 for a year. or taken off ESA if they feel you do not qualify.

I think you apply immediately they tend to not back date, you should be eligible if you have pid national insurance, why should you go without some help, please do so.
