Question for those of you who might have both fibro and joint hypermobility! I was asked by someone to clarify if I had ehlers-danlos syndrome and wasn't quite sure and Google isn't helping me! A rheumatologist diagnosed me with joint hypermobility ages ago at the same time as fibro and didn't really mention ehlers-danlos. I thought that meant also having stretchy skin which I don't particularly have, and I'm not sure if I bruise or scar more easily that others (though I certainly have a few!)
Are joint hypermobility syndrome and ... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Are joint hypermobility syndrome and ehlers-danlos syndrome the same?
Just found this, I hope it helps?
I also have hypermobily but not EDS or Marfan’s. It was explained to me by my consultant it is sometimes seen with Fibromyalgia. Thankfully I’ve never had dislocated joints but have had other joint problems that is connected.
Elhers Danlos is a very different condition and is relatively rare, joint hypermobility effects roughly half the general population with half of them feeling pain. ED's can be very serious effecting other tissues like that of the heart.
I have Fibro and hypermobility. It's an additional nuisance. My son has Hypermobility and dislocates his shoulder from time to time. We think he may also have fibro.
I have a friend who has Fibro and Ehlers Danlos, and they are related, but Ehlos Danlers is far more serious.
She has gone from a happy outgoing sportsperson to a person imprisoned by her EDS, and she's only in her late 30's.
She is in a wheelchair now. It took about 4 years from marathon running and Lifeguarding to the wheelchair.
This is meant as an illustration, not any criticism.
I hope this helps a bit.
Cheers, Midori
