Hi there Pauline, While the pain and fatigue associated with fibromyalgia may make exercise and daily activities difficult, it is crucial to be physically active. Research has repeatedly shown that regular aerobic exercise improves pain, function and overall quality of life.
We need to keep as active as possible. I know it may be painful but doing no exercise will make us stiff and the pain will just be even worse with each movement I'm afraid. The term use it or lose it springs to mind.
It looks wonderful on the beach I'm sure your having a great time xx

Hi PAULINE15 , don’t panic too much, you will be assessed 1st, and they will only let you do what you are able to do, at your own pace, it could even be sitting down exercise at 1st to get some movement in your knees, then slowly as you start to loosen up, they will try different things, I went to a fm physio and she was great, she told me she even helps professional athletes who have fm. After 6 weeks of trying allsorts I was able to take away some important mild stretching exercises. Just do what you can, and tell them if it hurts too much.Good luck .
Thank you for your reply I know I must keep moving I’m not a Couch potato and I want to keep moving, with my partner living by the beach we work every day I’m there and I really enjoy it although my both legs are very painful all the time XX
Fibro doesn't stop me doing most of the exercise I want, mentally I can't cope without a bit of cardio everyday. But my understanding is that arthritis is a problem for exercise? I thought impact made arthritis worse that's why I'm terrified of getting arthritis!
I know exactly what you mean, some physios seem to think 'one size fits all' where exercise is concerned, instead of tailoring the exercise to the ability of the patient, and their existing conditions. I too have knackered knees, my right is far worse than the left but they are both on the way out.
I am active though, I won't give in, even though it's too hilly to use a wheelchair here (mine sulks in the garage) I stagger down to Tesco on a Friday to get my fresh veg and local newspapers on my rollator, and stagger to the bank once a week and the Post office when necessary, and around my garden, watering and weeding.
