Received a letter from PIP in November 2020 stating my PIP reward had been extended until 18th July 2022.
Today I received my PIP review letter stating we must have this back by 18th September 2021.
I did ring and eventually got through for them to tell me they have changed their minds as we didn’t know how long the COVID pandemic would last….. Really?
So beware everyone if you received an extension on your PIP it’s not going to happen.

Yes, that’s happening. My letters were only a few days apart. I did my review and, so far, it’s been 17 weeks and no reply. 🤬 I hope yours doesn’t take too long. Nic xx
I had the very same thing, I had a letter telling me they would not be reviewing my case I would be covered until May 2022 then 3 days later I got a letter with a form to fill in. I just went into a panic, my partner phoned they told him that still stood but the form was for after may 22. I just don't know what is happening know. i sent the form back in April but have not heard a word so Idont know if they have received it.
I had mine extended twice for short periods last year but I was coming up to retirement age, in both letters it stated that things could change depending on circumstances, now they have a backlog , hope everyone hears good news soon x
They are being extended so they have enough time to process the reviews..
Me too though the lady I spoke to gave me some advice which was when you get your award you can challenge THE LENGTH OF AWARD TOO. This was because ours is for my son who is autistic and of course it is a lifelong condition. She said that if we got an award that was for say, 2 years we could challenge that on the grounds that the situation was unlikely to have changed sufficiently in that time. She also said that we could complete the form simply stating "no change from the last assessment" as I complained that with my fibro I simply didn't have the brain space to start gathering evidence and as we'd been in lockdown for nearly two years and my son has anxiety he hasn't been anywhere or seen anyone (his university has been remote since Oct 20).
So:
1. You can complete the form saying no change (but be prepared that they'll likely push back on that as they do with everything).
2. You can challenge the length of award as well as the amount.
