Hi Everyone,

I’ve just started pregabilin today for fybromyalgia. Has anyone been on this medication before and did it make a difference to pain?

Also, how long does it take to start to feel the benefits?

Thanks ☺️

Hi Ashleigh,

I take pregabalin, been on it several years now and while it doesn't take pain away completely, it has reduced it enough that it is manageable majority of the time.

I have take it for about 10 years now. It has helped with the burning shooting pains I was getting. It took several weeks for it to make any appreciable effect a d for my body to get used to it, Unfortunately I am very sensitive to alot of medication so can only tolerate a low dose. Personally it is the one medication I wouldn't like to be without.

I take Pregabalin and it is a wonder drug for me. It has stopped Amy achy legs completely and helps me sleep, I can get away with taking just 100mg in the evening (5 pm), it takes a couple of hours to work. It doesn’t knock me out just seems to relax my body enough for everything to function (normalish). I should take it regularly (x2 day) but I normally just take 1 and can often miss this when things are going well. As soon as my legs start hurting I take a tablet and within a couple of hours I’m OK again. Everyone is different but I hope they are as good for you as they are for me 😊

Hey ☺️Thanks for your response!that’s great news! That is probably my biggest issue sore/restless legs throughout the day and at night I often get aching at my bum lower back wrists and ankles very strange! Would it be ok to take it in the morning? My doctor has given me a low dose of 50mg 3 x a day. Would you recommend taking it in these doses?

I started on 50mg, twice a day. I found it difficult to take in the morning initially, but get in much bette with one 100mg tablet in the evening. Good luck!

Definitely made difference to pain thou it’s hard to reduce or come off it.There are side effects which at first made me feel spaced out but guess after 10 years on it my body has got used to it.hope it helps

Hey! Thanks for your reply.

I’m on 50mg x3 a day.

I take it this is quite a low dosage?

Hello, I was on gabapentin for years before there was finally a generic pregabalin (insurance wouldn't cover Lyrica) gabapentin worked for me but with a lot of highs and lows. I would feel great for a few hours and then feel like crap. Pregabalin seems to be that happy medium where I don't get the "I feel great" moments but I also don't get the crash from it that I got with gabapentin. It took about 2 weeks for the gabapentin to really take effect and then when I switched it was about a week for the pregabalin to settle in. I did also start sertraline (Zoloft) in conjunction which really helps with mood around the pain. It is a SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reputake Inhibitor.) Pretty much an antidepressant however, definitely helps. If you have any anxiety, mood disorders, depression, or even just get in a bad mood from the pain...talk to your doctor about adding Zoloft. I would give it at least 2-3 weeks first and reevaluate how pregabalin is working on its own before adding something else unnecessarily.

Hello! Thanks for your reply ☺️ I have been on sertraline for about 4 years before that fluoxetine, sertraline has honestly been a life saver for me I’m on 100mg per day and even though I have been on it for 4 years it has really made my life a whole lot better!

The only issues I have just now are pain related to fibromyalgia and tiredness I work 9 hours most days so I’m just worried that the pregabalin makes me feel a little out of it during the day but all the comments I’ve seen regarding this medication seem to be positive so I’m looking forward to hopefully feeling a bit less sore 😊

Sorry if this is a silly question, what do you mean about your insurance not covering it? Aren’t you in the UK?

Thanks so much for you’re comments

Hi I have been on pregabalin for over ten years I am on 250 mgs 12 hr slow releasing tbs one twice a day, I found they have work for me, I couldn’t take gabapentin they made me ill , if you suffer restless legs ,Have you ever tried Quinne , this tb is brilliant but hard to get some weeks the pharmacist can’t get the drug as they use this drug for coivd patients in hospital, Any tables taken the doctor says six weeks it can take to get full benefits of the drug, that’s what I have been told by my doctor psychologist, Give it chance to work, Hopefully this will suit you, good luck, stay strong , ps don’t know why insurance should matter,

All the previous posts I would agree with. It can make you feel slightly drunk, especially in the morning, so be careful about using car or complicated equipment, can make you a bit less concerned about risk. But I found taking it at night leads to better sleep, and better sleep manages everything so much better! Flare ups will mean upping doses temporarily, but When you have things under control it is possible to reduce your dose. Good luck, I have found pregablin a real benefit, hope you do too.
