Help for my pain please

Hi guys and gals

I hope you are a safe and well (as you can be)

I am looking for some advise on pain medication at present I take co-codamol 30/500 and Amitriptyline at night. For the most part this is not helping much. I’ve tried Tramadol before but I thought I’d been given a placebo as it didn’t do anything.

Work are starting to grumble about my time off so I need to step up and combat pain a little more

Thank you in advance xxx

Sorry you are struggling. Other medications which some people find help with fibro include gabapentin, pregabalin and duloxetine.

However, some people find that none of the medications help and they need to look at non-medication pain management.

I’ve tried everything for my pain and nothing has worked for me however I now have lindocaine infusions once every 3 to 4 months and this helps a lot ask your GP to refer you to a pain clinic that’s how I got mine .Hope this is of some help .

Hello JW881. I wouldn't cope without my TENS machine. It was the best thing I bought in 2020. I'm taking the same pills as you are plus one or two others. But, I'm able to cut down on the co-codamol now and use the TENS machine instead. It doesn't solve all my pain, but it helps alot.

Hope that's helpful to you. Stay safe.

Tramadol didn't do a thing for me, it was like taking paracetamol. Discuss pain relief with your GP. I did and I now take a cocktail of Gabapentin and morphine. I had to try different medications before we got the mix right. There were painkillers that didn't work and I stopped taking them and spoke to my GP. He had told me that if a medication doesn't work, why take it? They were reluctant to give me the morphine, especially after the patches burnt my skin, leaving permanent damage but after discussing my options, he reluctantly prescribed me the morphine tablets. I wish you all the best xx

Other things that worked for me in the early stages are Paingone and the various other TENS type gadgets made by the same company, they were great and easy to use. Tower - health.com have great pain relief items. I've tried most of them and they work. I still use the spine correct seat when I'm driving along with my heated massage cushion, which has adapters for the car and the house.

I find that a mixture of prescribed medication and holistic,(meditation) natural gadgets can make a great difference to you life but discuss everything you do with your GP.
