Winter pain ❄️
Hi, my pain is always worse over the winter.... But been really bad the last couple of days because temps have went below zero
Mines always bad over the winter months, I usually try to get a week abroad in the sun in November but due to COVID this year and tour operator going bust last year this has not been possible so I’m having the worst 2 winter months for a while. Hopefully we will get the vaccine soon and get some kind of life back
Sept/Oct I start counting the days to the shortest day of the year, December 21st and then with a sigh of relief I start counting up to when the temperature will change. No matter how many layers you wrap yourself in somehow the cold seems to be under your skin, The good news is that we have 2 and a half months to April.
Yes everything kicks off in winter, I can't exercise bc the gym is shut and I can't exercise outside bc its too cold so my fibro gets worse. I have Raynauds in my hands and feet and recently I've started loosing the skin off the bottom of my toes, I don't know why only thing I can think off is that I have to wear 3 pairs of socks to stop getting Raynauds indoors and maybe that's creating friction. I keep looking at the bath longingly just to heat up but have 2 kids under 6 so can't have a bath til they go to bed by which point I'm too tired. My 6 year old was still awake at 11.00 last night.
Any chance you could soak your feet in warm water? I use magnesium flakes in not too hot and relax for 20 mins ( with a woolly hat on if I really feel cold!). I drink lots of fresh ginger tea too, which helps the Raynauds.
The problem is I have a 2 year old and a 6 year old and you can't really do any relaxing during the day not until my husband gets home from work. Also home schooling the 6 year old while trying to keep 2 year happy means I don't get a spare minute. Plus having to stand in freezing cold parks! I did have some heated socks but they broke after 3 days, when they worked they were really good though!
It must be very hard, I do sympathise. I do my footbath last thing in the evening (magnesium makes you sleepy), so maybe once the kids are in bed you could try it - less effort than running a bath at least. My mum in law uses those single use footwarmers (Hothands, but I'm sure others are good too) and says they are wonderful x
Nothing seems to make me sleepy but I have a planted fish tank which I have to dose with magnesium sulphate so it just so happens I have large quantities of epsum salts around.....
I hate the cold weather, and yes I feel it more , Just to be in a warm environment is heaven ,I still keep moving as don’t want to stiffen up , warm bath early evening, my hottie as I call it , and pain relief rub in gel if need be. Xx
Yes, absolutely - and windy weather/ weather fronts. I wonder if it is due partly to mast cell dysfunction, as weather is recognised to be a mast cell trigger and although we know weather triggers fibro, it seems less well recognised for some reason. There are some studies of fibro/mast cell links ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl.... You could try a combination of anti-histamines (if you can take/tolerate) and quercetin which is a mast cell stabiliser, to see if it makes any difference to you. I just use quercetin and it does help but doesn't prevent additional pain and symptoms when the changes are dramatic, like the storm over Christmas coinciding with my period. (Hormones strongly connected to mast cell action, just like most autoimmunity). Hope you settle soon - relaxation will help, if you can find something that suits you, plus magnesium, Vit C.
Thank you for all your tips guys after reading some of your problems I don’t sound too bad ..I hope you all get some relief soon I’m wrapped up in my electric throw at the moment which is a god send and helps with that awful toothache feeling riding through the bones 🤪xxxx
Yes think atmospheric changes makes everything hurt way more xx
I am so very sorry to hear this. I live in California USA I use to live in Lake Arrowhead a beautiful area in the Southern California forest but the changing weather created so much pain. It was one of the reasons we moved. So, yes, I believe weather has an impact on pain. I finally started taking Tramadol for pain just in the morning. I can’t believe how much it relieves pain. I’m able to do all the things I used to do including more walking. Best of luck to you
Oh yes! Cold , damp or windy. Barometric pressure definitely.
Yeah, thought I'd build a little snowman yesterday, but crippled today around hips pelvic area! But enjoyed it ☃️
