Hi guys this is my first post here I’m looking for some help. I have struggled with severe pain, fatigue, anxiety for about 5 years. Only a month ago I got a diagnosis for Fibromyalgia. I currently work 35 hours a week as it would be impossible to not do so due to paying my bills. I was wondering how I would go about working less and receiving benefits? I couldn’t possibly live off £95 a week and pay my bills and rent ect. How do people manage this? I’m only 20 years old but it completely ruins my life, I’m like a walking zombie 95% of the time

Fibro and working!
healthunlocked.com/fibromya... Morning, we have a helpline you can call as well for some advice. Being full time and feeling like you do is so draining and like you say bills have to be paid, perhaps give our benefits advisor a call, hope this helpful xx
Good morning. I feel your struggle. As Yas has said below try and find out would you could be entitled to then make a decision on that hun. Xx
Have you discussed with your employers having an occupational health report done. My employers did this as soon as I was diagnosed, I hated the idea but had to go through it. It was a great help and kept me working for many years until I finally had to go part time. The report recommended all sorts of things which helped with the fatigue side and the pain. I had designated car parking space right by the door, more breaks should I need them, special chair, change in hours according to season (I find driving in the dark almost impossible) etc etc. It may be worth you considering this route until you can sort benefits.
I used to work 35 hours a week with fibro but before my stroke. It was very tough. The absolute best thing I have ever done wrt pain is to give up diet coke and anything else with artificial sweeteners in.
Adding a little exercise (building up from 4 lengths, back to 34 over a year or so), gentle yoga and fresh air strolls were also useful to me.
Currently claiming jobseekers _£75/week - is definitely not enough to live on.
Income support would pay your rent, the £75 or £95 or whatever it is would be for bills and food etc. Get some advice from the CAB or this forums helpline so you know what you'd be entitled too. Working is generally seen as better for your mental health so if your employers can do anything that can help you stay in work that would preferable. I've never had paid work, it's been immensely damaging to my mental health and identity.
