MY GP is not well versed in Fibro. What kind of specialist do u go to for help to work through this journey? I don't see any that advertise here in Arizona US on Google that say they specialize in Fibro.

I was referred to a Rheumatologist first, then a pain clinic. Either of those should be able to help.

ok thank you!

I was also referred to a rheumatologist after many many appointments with my gp and tests galore. I was told I would be referred to a pain clinic that was 15 years ago still waiting for that appointment to arrive! Lol

I have a medical plan that I can go to whatever Dr. or pain clinic I want. No referral needed.

in reply to Enos

Who sets up your medical plan?

Be proactive in your own health care , waiting for things to happen is a lazy can’t be bothered attitude, you can’t be in need for the poor you would have chased it up by now sorry for being so blunt but people have to take ownership of their health issues and knock at doors make calls or send emails.

in reply to Farmerboy

Excuse me?

Farmerboy profile image

I was not having a go at you but you did post you where and still waiting for a referral to a clinic over 15 years now either you think, need or want the referral or your not bothered, I expect it never got referred or lost in the system hence why your still waiting.

in reply to Farmerboy

I sought side treatment instead, I went private. Didn’t wait on NHS after the first 6months of waiting. I paid to go private. I ain’t that stupid that I think I will get an appointment 15 years on

Had you posted the information in your last post in your first post giving all the information I would not have posted in the first place or we need not to be having this conversation. I hope you got your health issues sorted by going private and can pass on any tips or advice reference about any medications that have or are helping .

in reply to Farmerboy

Yes sir! Sorry I am busy and didn’t have time to write an essay in my post....and yes sir I have been passing on information as and when I can on various posts

If you ever wish to report a person or a post please press on

the report button that says report at the bottom of each reply box.

Continuing any argumentative post by replying back and forth on the forum is against the rules and this may get the post turned off.

That is what the report button is for.

You are basically saying that I am lazy and I cannot be bothered? And I am actually not in need of any treatment? I would seek to understand more about me before you berate me mate

Hi Imperfection! Excuse me for sticking my nose in your business. Don't reply to this person, he's been very rude!.

I have found that ignoring people who attack you is the best solution because answering them empowers them.

Best regards and good luck.

in reply to Micafe

Yeah he was rude to me aswell. Labelling me as lazy or not needing help/support! seriously wound me up. I am busy I don’t have time to type every single little bit of detail! And I was firmly criticised! Thanks for your reply and your support x

in reply to Micafe

Well said Micafe, somebody obviously drank the prickly juice this morning 🤣🤣🐼💜

in reply to

Well i am not the only one he has been rude to, so seems he has the hump with the planet

in reply to

I think a certain person needs to check “their” attitude as suggested to others and as for being blunt and being rudely blunt there is a difference, let it fly over your beautiful heads. I always find being kind and caring much more rewarding 😉.

In the UK, it would normally be a rheumatology or pain clinic that you would be referred to for fibromyalgia - although there are a few multi-disciplinary fibromyalgia clinics in some areas.

Ok ,thank you Panda🤗 Is medical not very good there? Sounds like getting i. to sector Dr takes awhile.So.etimes here to.But I can see any Dr. I want. I am on Medicare plus I purchase a supplement which picks up anything Medicare doesn't pay. Do u get Medicare when u turn 65? I am 68. How are you doing? I've read alot od posts and I enjoy your humor. Very sweet😊

Hi Enos

Sometimes humour gets us through haha. We pay national insurance up to retirement age this goes towards our national health service and is also free to people who do not pay but unfortunately with COVID it has meant that we are not getting routine appointments its a massive pressure on our already creaking national health service. They delayed cancer services and put chemotherapy on hold, you can obviously pay for private health insurance but this is at a premium.

Most of my appointments are now carried out by telephone but they are not as frequent and I am still waiting to see my neurologist due to blackouts and loss of my bladder and my rheumatologist but its chin up, chest out and carry on.

Keep safe xxx

Hello expecting your GP to know about all and every illnesses a bit to much to ask that’s why they send us to hospitals for specialists treaty examinations. I have MS my GPS aren’t up to speed on the subject but I am in contact with my Nurologey department via emails if I have any concerns and if the reply not MS related then contact my GP.

For me in London once I was diagnosed by rheumatologist confirming GP diagnosis that was the end of journey. 10 years on and still left to my own devices. Hope you have more help in US! Sending love and best wishes

When I started having all these pains I was referred to a Rheumatologist by my family doctor. He was the one that diagnosed the fibromyalgia.

After that, I kept going for all kinds of tests and nothing changed. The doctor never prescribed anything for the pain and there was a moment when I was fed up and decided not to go back.

I think its just business for them, doctors get their money and nothing changes because -the sad truth is- there's no cure for fibro, much less a medication..

Enos in reply to Micafe

Oh wow, It is different here in US.It might take 30 days to see a Speacialist but u can always see one when there is a need. Plus pain clinics that help. What do u take for pain? True on money and Dr that is for sure.

I was lucky to be diagnosed by my GP at the time. Had quite a few tests, and then found fibromyalgia online and asked if that was what it was, and he said that by process of illumination, it looked that way. Then he checked my pressure points.

My conclusion after having been to 40+ docs in the past year to check each of the big + small symptoms, diagnosed fibro by the 2nd rheum., one of 30 diagnoses:

Each doc helped a tiny little bit,

but getting good PT is *much more important (incl. osteopathy, acupressure, acupuncture, yoga etc. exercises (qi gong, tai chi), cryotherapy)

and getting to know your body in a new way with the help of the people here.

Humour? Lol I wouldn’t say it was humour, more like disbelief of the sheer absurdity of the persons comments, seems i am not the only one he has attacked .....

Locking post as people are sonituning an argument / doiscussion rather than following admin direction. Remember if you have an issue with a poster then report the post and then move on. If you do not know how to do something then read the help or contact an admin.

Continuing an argument tends to get the more stubborn people restricted irrespective of their point of view in the argument!!!!!
