Headaches

I’m really struggling today with my headache. I’ve taken the doses I can to relive it but it’s coming back with a vengeance. Any one got any tips on how to deal with these? I’ve got a doctors app next week for them to help me deal with it as I was only diagnosed yesterday with fibromyalgia. The pains I just can’t see through🥺😕 thanks Gemma

Hi Gemmaoxo,

Welcome to this friendly place. Fibromyalgia is a complex thing and affects many functions in your body. Like wise there are many causes of headaches and the headache is likely a result of something else.

Make sure you are properly hydrated - check the colour of your urine - if it is darks or gold then you probably are not drinking enough and your system will be toxic.

The condition can affect you kidneys so you will lose minerals that ae vital to good hormone functions so taking a multi-mineral tablet is good insurance.

Flares often emerge from vitamin D shortage top it up if you don't get much sunlight.

Definitely call you Doctor if the headache is serious and long lasting it needs to be investigated.

Also FM can make you hyper-sensitive to anything toxic like food preservatives (Sulphites in particular) lay off junk food, biscuits, shop cakes, dried fruit non-vintage wine and bottled beer all of which contain high levels of sulphites. They are quite capable of giving you three day headaches that make the back of your nose and sinuses really hurt.

Good luck with you quest to find the cause - stay in touch.

I think your general advice is ok but some of your assertions about fibro are not generally held. Affecting kidneys for example is maybe you extrapolating that some of the meds can do this but the doctor should advise when this is the case.

Hi there Gemma, welcome to our group. Sorry to hear your suffering with head pain. I get migraines and I can empathise.

Worry or stress can give us continual head pain it tends to tighten up my neck muscles. I tend to use something warm on my neck muscles to try and eas the pain.

Please try to relax not easy I know. Hopefully your GP will get to the bottom of your headaches. I'm sure it's nothing sinister 🤗🤗

I have had Fibro for 35 years and all I would say is from my experience is please try not linger over every ache and pain you may feel. Doing so can be very debilitating and stressful. Please remember fibro is not a terminal illness. It will not kill you. It just feels like it some day I'm afraid 😜

I have Fibro and several other health issues and have never really associated my headaches with any of my illnesses.

Whatever causes them they are debilitating.

I sympathise with you and hope your doctor can find something that helps you.

Hi Gemma, have you tried the 4head stick.. I try not to take tablets when I can and tried this years ago.. It really helps me.. I rub it over my temples and forehead a few times with my eyes closed for around a minute as it can make them water..

It's worth a try to see if it helps..

There is obviously something else going on too but this little stick is my first go to if I feel a headache starting..

I hope you get to the bottom of it sweetheart.
