I get tendonitis quite often. My GP and various specialists believe it is a result of my osteoarthritis in many of my joints. I find heat pads to the affected area helps. Also because exercise is difficult I find a tens machine on a massage setting helps. Obviously with it being in your foot you are limited to what you can do. The big danger with connective tissue problems is that your muscles can become wasted. This happened to my right shoulder. Your GP may be able to refer you to a physiotherapist who specialises in foot problems. My own as helped me on many occasions.
Hi yes I have Achilles’ tendon in both feet which is very painful. The podiatrist gave me insoles but didn’t help much but try and wear shoes with abit of a wedge it isn’t as painful.
Hi Jan
I have it in both ankles I have insoles from the podiatrist as well as spending lots of money on orthotic shoes none have helped.
The podiatrist said it comes from both calf muscles and down their like balloons most of the time walking came be very painful
I use ibuprofen gel support socks I was supposed to get a specialist physio 2 years on and nothing’s I just manage it myself.
So sorry your suffering it’s hard one minute it’s ok the next it’s just the lightest step and ouch you can walk properly.
Big hugs Hel52 x
I use voltaran gel/ diclofenac to rub in to the foot where I have tendonitis. It, at least, helps me sleep at night when it is painful. It is a miserable problem. I went to all my doctor's and no one knew what to do. Went to podiatrist. He said my calf muscles were too tight and told me to do stretches so they weren't so bad. Sometimes they feel worse, sometimes they feel better. Good luck to you.
thanks for that think tight calves prob true but why they tight ?all at once . lucky in a way i go months ok but then things like this agony and struggle to live
Missvenus,
I have had tendon problems for years and it depends where you get the problem as to what the Doctor will call it. I had a particular problem under my instep and the Doctor called it Plantar Faciitis. I made a foam insert to fit in my shoe under the instep to avoid the strain and it worked well - avoiding strain and keeping it warm.
I have found it beneficial to use Voltarol/diclofenac but also to find the lump and to massage it hard with a bit of oil to reduce the strain on the skin. Over several days you can reduce the size of the lump - then just be nice to it an avoid strain. I asl get pain in hands wrists and elbows but I have learned that the pain source might not be the same location as the pain. Probe around until you find lumps. the pain can be reduced over time by firm massage.
The hardest ones for me are where I cannot reach and you need a friend to help you with those. They also usually comment on find the lump - it is very apparent to them. It also gains you a little sympathy.
Best wishes to you
Yes its horrible I also keep getting told I have acillis tendinitis , If I stand or walk to far I get a large lump on my acillis tendon which is really painful my gp hasn't even looked at it , I mentioned it when I had a hospital appointment about my copd the doctor felt it and recons I had ruptured my abilities tendon and wrote to my gp not heard anything . Looks like more pain that I have to cope with
Hi Jan, yes all the time! Have to keep moving & stretching to loosen up tendons/muscles, my right leg is always my worst, might be from driving.
If you have stairs stand with only the front of your foot on the edge and drop your heels slowly down as much as you can, you get a really good stretch all the way from foot to back of thigh, do this a few times a day.
Put a bottle of water in the freezer then use it to roll your foot over it whilst sitting down.
If you have a carpet/rug use your toes as if you're trying to pick something up.
Sit with legs straight in front of you, pull your toes towards you as much as you can, use a cord to wrap around your toes and pull them a little further.
Simple lunge, one leg bent one straight, both feet flat on the floor.
You can find lots of physio exercises online, these are just the ones I use.
Also Epsom Salts in your bath, Magnesium Oil/Spray directly onto muscles.
Hope this helps 🤗
Morning and welcome, for me very general stuff really I do need a soak in my bath and radox/epsom salts always at the ready, when I rest warmth really, cold always agrevates so more hibernation for me when the weather turns cold, I do have a bio freeze rub I get from boots /amazon,(but always check with your pharmacist if your taking any meds) xx
My 2nd rheum. who diagnosed fibro said she prefers the more exact term "polyinsertionstendomyopathy" (can't find an English equivalent).
I agree that this tendomyopathy is there and part of my fibro, esp. the stiffness, which isn't in the joints, it's in the muscle insertions. So yes, I have!
But I disagree because that isn't my main problem, it's the Big Ache, Exhaustibility and Sleep Need & Disruptions. There's much more to fibro or whatever anyone wants to call this symptom-collection.
