Iโ€™ve been sick for 5 years myself and was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia by my Naturopathic Dr. It started with a rash, then body aches. Last July I had walking double pneumonia and was clueless. Itโ€™s kinda been downhill from there. Hoping to make a comeback from this naturally. Best wishes to you as well๐Ÿ™

Hi and welcome to the site

Welcome to the club no one wants to join!

Seriously though, you are now on a learning curve, because you are unlikely to get a great amount of help from your GP. They often don't understand it and have little interest, unfortunately. If you find a good one, hang on to them!

You will need to research lots of things, from medication to Therapies which might help. It is important to become Proactive in your own management, as it is likely to be frustrating otherwise.

Try, if you can to become an Expert patient, it will help both your GP and yourself.

You may find, that some foods no longer suit you, and can exacerbate any stomach and gut problems you may experience.

Look up The Spoon Theory. It can be used to explain things to people (and there will be some who don't understand), and think you are being lazy.

Try to keep your weight under control, as too much will drain what energy you have, and Please keep moving. It's very tempting to give up on exercise, as it is tiring, but please keep it up, as far as you can. (Not expecting you to run marathons, but short walks will help) Don't neglect your mental wellbeing either, it is important, as depression is a thing with Fibro. Try to keep up as many of your physical and mental interests as possible. Also try to keep as much of your social life as possible, or you will end up feeling disheartened.

Cheers, Midori
