Thought it had gone away.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia over 20 years ago after a period of time suffering from excessive stiffness, swelling and pain in joints. These symptoms eased and I haven’t given it much thought since. I exercise regularly, started running a couple of years ago and ran a 10k last year and I consider for my age (56) that I’m reasonably healthy. Recently I’m experiencing knee pain particularly at night and also neck pain. Could this be a fibromyalgia flare up?

Hi there, with out speaking to your GP there is no way to be sure what's going on. But given your age and the amount of exercise /running you do It could be the onset of something like arthritis. I would get it checked out :)

Thank you for your advice. I think you’re probably right, I’ve put off going to the gp as I rarely go anyway and in the current situation it’s difficult to see a gp but this is something I shall look into.

Sounds more like a general strain from exercise/living to me. It’s quite easy to strain a knee and pain can radiate to all parts of the body (fascia); or a strain to the neck can stress the knee but more likely the other way around. IMHO as a therapist. RA can be linked to low vitamin D as it is autoimmune.

Agree with dizzytwo see your doc when possible, I’m 58 used to swim 3 times a week kept fairly fit through my years, recent X-ray has shown arthritis in my knee.

Although the Gp will only be guessing bc at the end of the day there is no test for fibro.

Omg that's amazing but try absorbine veterinary liniment GEL on your knees and anywhere else your tight or stiff ..its incredible..,the minty smell goes away so you dont smell like vicks vaporub or anything ..use it 3x a day ..its amazing ..just be sure to scrub off your hands after applying it it will burn your eyes but it doesnt burn your body ..it will help you so much amd the swelling ..dont wrap plastic around it or anything it will burn then ..I just started using this recently and cant get over how much it helps pain ...and drs say it's ok to use
