Any advice on how to deal with flare up at work?

Any advice? I keep getting sharp pulsating, squeezing pains in sides and when I breathe in the pains get more extreme and it's hard to breathe as well as my stomach hurting as above. I was off work for 2 days because of this but it's just started again in work... what can I do for relief?

Breathing exercises and stretching.

We experience these pains and sensations from hyperactive or inflamed nerves. Nerves need stretching too.

Breathing will help you to control, I know it hurts but it’s important you allow your breathing muscle above your stomach to get oxygen and properly expand and contract otherwise you may also experience cramping.

Hope I’m for some help.

Thanks this is helpful. I hate breathing when I get this, I try shallow breathes but maybe that's making it worse. I'll definitely try stretching more

Morning, have you spoke to your doctor about this, is this a new symptom you are experiencing? If not maybe a good idea to ring your surgery for advice, nothing worse than trying to work with this, I hope you get some help with this xx

I did this 2 days ago and was given a new drug, and it seems easier to get through to the gp during lockdown.

Definitely worth a try

I've noticed this as I mentioned below. I'm lucky for the moment I'm by a window at work where sun comes through

I'm waiting for my wee-wee results to come back from monday just gone about this 🤣

I'm using microwaveable heat bean bag for now as I don't get any relief from pain killers but this is helping a little.

I'll respond with what the docs suggest later on x

Microwave beanbags are great for pain relif.

Don’t always stick to hot beanbags are a great alternative to an ice pack, its not as intense cold. If you have an extra for the freezer I highly recommend trying if you have a spare. (Sometimes I find areas of high pain intensity radiate heat, helps to check the small things write them down and tell your doctor when you get a chance)

Just an update, My pee results came back...some how the sample was contaminated ?!

So...yeah I have to do another one this wednesday coming :(

How did they manage that! That must be very frustrating. I hope you get sorted soon.

I have the same symptom but have IBS too so assumed it was that instead

It may have been because the doctor themselves opened it and did a test. Whether the lab team found it had been already opened then decided they couldn't read it... I don't know!

Ah how interesting! I had these pains as a kid and was put down to ibs . They went away for years until now really.

And thanks ×

Ah possibly! I was really poorly over Christmas and was at hospital a couple of times. Somehow they lost my blood and urine samples! By time theyd realised I'd had antibiotics and was feeling better, so never found out what was wrong 🤦🏻‍♀️ I hope they get to the bottom of it for you and you're all sorted soon x
