I know it is different depending on which area you live in - but locally our GPs are doing an initial telephone consultation, and if they need to see you they will arrange a time for you to visit the surgery.
however, in the meantime if you need more information on fibromyalgia our main website is fmauk.org.
You could ask your GP for a referal to a Rheumatologist (which could take longer than usual, given the present situation) .
Meanwhile, you could ask your GP for some Antibodies blood tests, Thyroid maybe. Enquire about TPO & TgAb, FreeT3, TSH, FreeT4 & Total T4. To eliminate Thyroid disease.
Ask for some nutrients levels to be tested to eliminate possible deficiencies in particular :
Vitamin D, Calcium, Vitamin B12, Folate and Ferritin.
Does anyone in the family have any Autoimmune Disease? Any Thyroid problem or other?
Our GP is doing necessary blood tests. When you have your discussion with your GP I believe they decide if you need to be seen or have any investigations. I would write a list of your symptoms and keep it by the phone for when he /she calls back. Ours has taken me by surprise a few times and my mind goes blank !
Yes I’m the same lol mind goes blank the best of time. Ii will write down a list tonight and call them first thing tomorrow and see what they say. Thank u xx
Hopefully when the current situation starts to change seeing your doctor is the 1st step, write down your symptoms and how long this has been going on, my daughter has endometriosis and mild fibro so you have my empathy. I would speak to your surgery they are arranging call backs to patients , I would differently have a word and explain about the anxiety , it might be you could get an appointment, my surgery are getting people to either wait outside/or in their cars and then called in when doctor/nurse practioner is ready so it might be you will get seen, surgeries are just operating a different and safe system for patients, you do sound like you are struggling so I would differently pick up the phone xxx
Hello ii rang them this morning and just spoke to a dr, she has booked an app for blood tests.
And if all comes back ok she will refer me to hospital cant Remember where she said ,: but also said that no1 is taken referrals yet so it’ll be a while before that happens.
