Anyone diagnosed fibromyalgia after chest infections/pleurisy?

Hello all, I'm feeling in pain,weak and just awaiting refferral appointments really.

I had bad chest infection oct needed 2 lots of antibiotics, chest, short of breath bouts, x ray clear.. pleurisy around christmas, lots of phlegm I put down to quitting smoking in the oct, clear x ray again in jan.

I had burning in chest and muscle pain upper back doc refferred me to muscular skeletal they said they would say fibromyalgia. I went back to docs still burning chest pain upper spine all joints (may be from 5 weeks of taking sertraline antidepressant which is what they first ever gave me, weaning off them currently,as docs said it's not that, I asked to be reffered to respiritory as this is how my illness all started,so now waiting appointment, right shoulder,knee,joints hip is in pain, as of yesterday I'm experiencing hip pain when I pass stool even. One doc refferred me to neurologist before fibromyalgia muscular appointment but the neurologist red my notes and pushed my routine back. I'm quite baffled my lower right leg feels somewhat different/numb/tingly I dont k ow somewhere along those lines.

My chest does burn,my joints ache,lower front and back ribs,knee pain always their, went docs last week she said shes starting me on amitriptline as thats how she would start to treat fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia is normally diagnosed after all other possible causes for your symptoms have been eliminated. The diagnosis can be complex and time consuming involving many tests. It can take years.. Fibromyalgia as been liked to a number of illnesses both physical and psychological such as intense stress. Sadly and all honesty the only answer I can give is it could be or it could be other conditions.

This sounds how I started on my way to being diagnosed. My breathlessness & high blood pressure was picked up by works nurse. I had kept having repeated chest infections which I said to my doctor I believed to be caused by GERD. The acid comes up & go off into your lungs. Once my acid medication was doubled the infections weaned off to one or 2 attacks a year. Neurologist was a waste of time. CFS/ME team have been my saviour even though I had been lost in their system for a year. Now they have got me a visit from occupational health team to asses my home & referral to physiotherapy. Due to allergic reactions to opiates & sedation the only thing I have been able to tolerate is gabapentin. This helps with the migrains &pins & needles but not the pain.

I am a great believer in taking a posative from a negative.....I may be in pain but I am still alive to enjoy my grand children & all the love they bring with them. I'm not saying it's easy but hang on in there & learn to adjust your life to your new limitations.

Ive been on sertraline for a year & dosnt help.i get burning pain aswell & pain that seems to travel.also when u have burning pain do u feel breathless?.i had an ultrasound last year & doc says the pain i feel travelling is coming from the stomach.also been on amytriptyline that didny help so come off it.this has been going on for 5 years now & ive had to learn to live with this.chest pain is frightning so i can symathise with u im male & 61 years old & try & keep myself fit through all this.hope this helps u good luck.

Yes I do get breathless, all started at the same time as chest infe ton, then 5 weeks on sertraline from 1st week really all my joints have bein acheing a d my spine pain is terrible, taken last sertraline today will see how I get on with amitriptline
