Mobility & fatigue
Hi
Hope you aren't in too much pain. I hire a wheelchair , if we are going to be out for a while we hire one, it's great 😁
If you are talking about an ordinary wheelchair, ask your local hospital. I believe the NHS are supposed to supply one if the OT thinks it is necessary or worthwhile.
Physio ordered mine, but it took 5 months to arrive. In the meantime I got a rollator, which was a great help. I believe the waiting time is even longer now.
You might find a lightweight one from your local Disability store is better; NHS ones are hefty beasts. OK, you pay for them, but if you are on benefits you can claim back the VAT.
Good morning Bluebell I have both a wheel chair and just bought a Rollator a few months ago. I would say from my own experience before you buy any of these consider how far you can actually walk, For example if I know me and hubby are going into just one store for example and my back pain is low I can use the Rollator. But if we had to walk onto another shop for example I would need the wheelchair. Sometimes even when in a shop with the walker I have had sit on it and let hubby finish pushing me around and out of the store on it.
But if in doubt we take the wheel chair and I will walk a little while pushing the chair then sit for a while and hubby pushes me. Not ideal but it's a must . so If you think you would benefit by using a wheel chair i would say go for it. I have had one now for about 20 years and it gets mefrom A to B

I have a wheelie walking frame on four wheels it has a seat and breaks also a basket.I take it to hospital appts. Its folds up neatly for the car and under stairs cupboard. Coz its so far to walk from car parks or off buses.I can stop and sit.today I app!led for a blue badge..not holding out much hope though.
I got my first badge based on i couldn't get coins into meters. My grip & finger neuropathy sent coins flying everywhere & if it was one of those machines that needed a card inserted i needed someone with me to jump out of the car & do it.
My mobility wasn't considered severe enough probably coz i hadn't yet has my pip decision
So i appealed & won it on inability to use coins. Its one of the descriptors on the ESA form i think
Try that. Grip is pretty bad with fibro. I cant use a mouse. Only touch screens for me
Hey blue if a wheel chair gets you from a to b and you can conserve energy why not.you do what you can and what you must.bless you
Thank you. Just don’t want to feel like a fake!!
Don’t buy one I went the job center to collect my dla and they managed to get me one it’s great it fits in my mobility car no problemo
I have a wheelchair that lives in the car and I use it when out and about. My OT told I need one so that I can still go out. She said it enables me to do more things not disables me. When in shops I can sometimes get out of it and use it to lean on while browsing, when I am able to. I wouldn’t be able to go out if I didn’t have one. Ask your GP for a referral to OT dept and they will arrange on for you free. I have Fibro and ME and my legs and spine are affected the most. After many falls I would now never go anywhere without it. I am in my 50s and to start with felt self conscious and a fake but if you need to use to enable you to still do things then go for it. Whatever helps.
Ok thank you for the advice 😊
