Hi, it’s very common in people with Fibro. It’s called Fibro-fog.

I’ve gone out to post a letter, came back, went out again 2hrs later to post the letter in my handbag. I found my purse in the fridge! I could go on.

You’re not going mad. Leave yourself notes, but put them somewhere you can see them.

Take care.

GP. 😊😊

Hi

Oh thank God for that I thought I was the only one that goes to the toilet to put rubbish out and put milk in the cupboard and locks the front door but leaves the black door open

My daughter phoned one morning and said, are you ready. I said, are we going somewhere, did we have something planned. She said, yes nan's hospital appointment. They had reminded me all week but on the day I forgot. I scrambled to get ready.

Lol...I have put my screwdriver in the fridge and other daft things. My wife as flooded the house twice by forgetting to turn of taps. I think you will get many stories about those foggy moments.

Oh yes !!!

When this first starts happening it can be very frightening. I was terrified that I was developing early onset dementia.

Nowadays, I just laugh it off and amuse my partner and family with my funny experiences. Much better than being distressed by it.

Take care

Fabric conditioner in fridge? Check 🙋

Diabetic dog given wrong dose of insulin? Check 🤷

Diabetic dog not given insulin? Check 🙋

Appointment with oncologist forgotten twice? Check 🤷

Dog left out in garden by mistake? Check 🙋

Mum not given dinner? Thrice? Check 🤷 (I'm her principal carer - Go figure)

Forgot how to drive? While I was driving? Check 🙋 (I've since had to stop completely - also because my terminal cancer diagnosis no longer permits it)

I could go on.

I'll spare you.

Oh yes! All the time. Many of us call it Fibrofog! A few of the mad things I do.

Used Couscous instead of sugar in tea and coffee.

Constantly forget what I've walked into a room for.

Put the wrong ingredients in a casserole (turned out OK though!)

Lose my train of thought and say ridiculous things in conversation (some are hilarious!)

Forget common words when trying to explain things, eg, the word Hard shoulder when talking about a motorway!

Sometimes embarrassing, but mainly hilarious! It doesn't help that I'm now nearly 72, But I've been a absent minded all my life!

I have spent last two years trying to improve such ‘fibro’ things, but then i do have other problems too ( Hashimoto’s disease, hypothyroidism, insulin dependent diabetes...). Have you tested b12, vit d, folate and ferritin levels...I need them high to support hypothyroidism but found by doing that have improved( not cured) some fibro symptoms like fibro fog; b12 injections ( tho not technically low or PA) have aided dizziness and pins and needles. Worth looking into.

Dear Hitman ,

Yes i believe its what is called fibro fog . I go into the kitchen and forget what i went for ! Lose things , i try to put them in the same place always now . I went to my allotment on thursday and left my handbag in my summerhouse/ shed . I had to go back the next day . Got some more work done tho !

I use ginko biloba for that ( from holland and baratt ) you can get tablets or a liquid . It helps a lot , it also gives me more energy . I make a drink in the morning ( because i have so many tablets and capsules ) honey and cider vinegar 1 dessertspoon, the gingko , and d ribose ) a ' sugar ' which also gives energy . I also take all the b. Vitamins , b 12 and b 3 . The latter seem to be helping a bit more , people have remarked i look better. I also take 4,000 ius of vit D3 . My rheumatologist told me to take that , but my daughter was told to take it for tiredness . I think shes developing fibro. I also listen to Dr. Mandell and Dr. Berg on you tube they are very helpful on vitamins , and also digestion issues .

Many people with fibro also have digestive issues . A year ago after 4 months of diverticulitis i changed my diet . I found Dr. Gundrys diet on you tube . I've given up all grains principally and potatoes ( i simply have sweet potatoes instead ) , very little sugar , i use sweeteners. I've also lost a stone over the year , and i'm not hungry . Dr. Gundry explains the diet very well and gives recipes . A couple Jan and Dave do a blog on their experience on the diet , both were chronically ill at the beginning. They also test recipes . its called AZ life cooking . Keto recipes are useful too . I now have three or four recipes i use all the time , though i try new ones too. I buy the flours , sorghum, millet and cassava on Amazon 1/2 kilos at a time , it works out cheaper . And flaked millet from holland and barratt. I use that for porridge with cassava flour , a dessertspoon of each , plus protein powder and a little flax seed.

I hope you find that useful , can give more info if you need it . God bless and i hope you see some improvement soon . K T

HI hitman57

just reading your post and everyone else,s reply it makes me laugh because before i was diagnosed with fibro.many years in pain just treating myself.but over the past year my memory has got a lot worse. like all your reply,s i to left tap running put phone in fridge instead of butter.and many other things friday i got home to find i still had my works phone in my pocket the thing is i am not back at work until thursday so had to go to work this morning to take it back because the driver needs it .so since i have been a member of health unlocked i have learned a lot about fibro.and fibro fog doc s just said it s just old age .but it,s a lot different . like people say you have to leave notes on your breakfast table like this morning my wife had left a note for me to text a reply to my care worker from able minds under the D W P next meeting in jan.but i got a meeting with my doc incase its is something different. cheers Ant
