I’m a retail manager and struggling with this busy time of year, my staffing budget is tight and every trading hour is covered with minimum staff, I have amazing staff who do everything they can to help me, I can’t stand for long on the shop floor so I have to keep sitting in my office and do paperwork but that’s not always possible, I’m trying to get PIP so I can work four days but I’m at the stage of waiting for appeal date, I’ve always given 100% to my job but now I can only give 80% this upsets me because I feel I’m abusing my position but I need the money so I have to just struggling along hoping for a lottery win or a miracle xx

Flexible working hours no an option
Hi
I really feel for you. I'm in pain 24/7 due to my many conditions. Work, friends and family have been brilliant. My boss was fantastic trying to accommodate me. In the end though I had to take ill health retirement at the age of 52. I get my works pension and PIP. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Hi Pauline so sorry you are in this situation. On a positive note it’s good that you have staff who are so helpful. I hope you get your benefit to allow you to cut your working hours as you would see such a big improvement (I work 4 days as a hairdresser and for some reason I find it much more manageable than working 5 days). It allows time to rest, time to get food shopping and all the other things women have to do (I tend to do that in my middle day off so the next day I can recover/rest) xx
Hi thanks for your reply, I had to give up my hairdressing career just after my apprenticeship because I was diagnosed with rheumatism which is now called fibromyalgia, so I’ve had it a long time, xx
I am seriously thinking of giving it up as it’s too sore on the body. X
