Gabapentin?
Hi Dizzy, Gabapentin works but when I first took them they made me feel a bit gaga and sleepy but I persevered and got used to them. Good luck
Thanks wee Nanny !
Hi dizzy, I am on pregabalin, very similar to gaba, took me a while to get used to them, was spaced out for a few weeks 🤪. Had my dose upped over the course of three months, does sort of help but takes the edge off at times. I have gained over 2 stone in weight though. See how you go with them 😊
I was prescribed Gabapentin and sadly do to side affects was taken off it. My wife was also prescribed it and after an initial period getting used to it found that it helped. Medications can be very individual and I am sure you will hear good and bad stories about gabapentin. Give it a few months and see how it works for you.
I think the only way to find out is to try it. In my case I've just come off It because it didn't help enough with the pain to outweigh the side effects. My pain is quite mild and liveable with though.
Hi
I was prescribed gabapentin, I didn't get any side effects, it just didn't work for me. Take care Lynne
Yes, pregabalin didn't work either. I'm on nortriptyline, duloxetine, zomorph and oramorph, sometimes paracetamol and cuprofen and I'm still in pain!! If I actually manage to get to sleep which is hard when you are in pain, then pain will wake me up. I get 1hourtops which is hard to cope with. I hope you get some relief very soon. Take care of yourself Lynne
Wow Oldham12 I thought I was bad for sleeping. How you keep going is amazing. I cannot sleep on my back but then I toss and turn all night due to hip pain that runs down to my knees. Each time I get the pain I am awake and turn then have to 'get comfortable'. I would have hoped with all the pain meds you are on you would be able/need sleep. You take care hun
Thank you. I'm hoping to be having pain injections soon, hope they work. No meds have knocked me out. I had to have ketamine for sedation as I was having a gastroscopy but with a thicker tube, only gagged once, best sleep I've had!! Take care of yourself Lynne
Hi Dizzy, I’ve been on gab for over 2yrs, as well as fluoxetine (& occasional amitriptyline which I can’t take if I have to be up early, working or need to drive the following morning as it completely turns me into a zombie). I am usually given naproxen together with Omez when I have a flare. I can’t recall a side effect of gab apart from possibly feeling extremely nauseous for a couple of weeks. There’s always the element of dry mouth on most meds (I find). Although the Fluox has helped immensely with my mood & outlook, the side affects of that have been worse ie no libido. I am settled and happy on Gab’ but everyone is individual and you have to find what works best for you. Best wishes x
Thank you I’m the same in Flo and amitriptyline xx
