I’m new to this! 🥺

Unsure what I’m meant to do right now 🙈 12 months ago I was paralysed on my left side, after 2 months in hospital I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis, learnt to walk again and got used to my new life of many daily tablets and injecting myself with the delightful methotrexate and one of the new drugs (hyrimoz)

Recently I have felt so crappy within myself, the pain has been horrific throughout my body, I’ve been constantly tired but the insomnia has been awful on a night, yesterday I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia as well as ankylosing spondylitis!

Feel like my body is totally against me right now, I’m a 25 year old girl, who’s just starting her life, I’m scared to think about moving out of my parents house and even getting into a relationship, feel like no one would understand and think I’m faking the pain that I’m in!

Any comments or messages would be so appreciated right now as I’m scared to death and the pain is horrific 😭😭😭😭

Hi

I really feel for you. I have many painful conditions like you but it must be harder for you being so young. You will find that special someone. Let me tell you about my youngest son who was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when he was 12. Had lots of flare ups until they seemed to have got it right. Anyway, he had just started uni and had a massive flare up and had to come home, have surgery involving a colostomy bag and then had it removed 6 months later. He started uni again and did the 3 years and now has a lovely girlfriend who knows that this could happen again but us there like we are, to support him. He never thought he'd meet anyone so kind and caring. I know yours ids different but there are people out there who will love you for who you are. Please take care Lynne

Ah thank you so much for your message. Your story has really hit me. I sometimes forget that my mom worries about me (like you would as a parent)

I think it’s because the guy I was seeing left me when I was diagnosed last year with the arthritis and it’s scared me now. I know what you’re saying with there’s someone out there and I don’t doubt that (if they can put up with me haha) I think it’s more telling them about my condition, I close up and don’t open up enough about it.

Even though I don’t know you or your son, it made me really smile knowing that he’s met someone and he’s really happy, honestly put a smile on my face!

Thank you Lynne - from Stef x
