Off to the doctors in 2 weeks time to review my meds.
Currently on ramipril and amlodipine for hypertension, omeprazole for reflux, lexothyroxine for hasimoto hypothyroidism and amitriptyline and citalopram. No pain killers yet but hopefully soon ill get some.
I am looking at coming off of the amitriptyline and citalopram due to weight gain and i dont really find that amitriptyline really does anything ( im taking 40mg in the evening). im looking at Duloxetine and liothyronine.
Any comments??

I was prescribed (50mg > 100mg > 50mg) Amytriptiline over 6 month period at age 17 for chronic headache, lowered headache frequency but messed up my mind and decreased cognition /intelligence. Not happy that I was advised to exceed to a 100mg dose (quite high) at one point and that I was told by my neurologist it was 'safe' and would have absolutely no effect on my thinking capability when they don't even know how the medication works to directly treat pain symptoms. Decided to taper off from 50mg to 10mg during the last month (going down 10mg intervals each week), going to stay on 10mg to avoid potential insomnia.
Side effects experienced: weight gain, tremor, dry mouth, irritability, mood fluctuation, cognitive impairment, depression (either direct or indirect) and chronic fatigue - makes you feel 'zombie-ish'.
Try exercise, fasting, acupuncture therapy and many other natural methods for prophylaxis, not psychoactive medication synthesised almost over a century ago.
Thank you for your reply. Ive stopped the amitriptyline and citalopram. Im lucky ive felt no side effects of withdrawl what so ever. To be honest, i actually feel better within myself, im much happier although the down side is my restless leg has got worse, headaches are still the same, and my sleep isnt as good as it was. I dont know if i should go back on them to get sleep or stay off to feel better and happier... catch 22...
