Hi. I went through a period of 6 months to a year of one ear regularly feeling like had water in it and I couldn't hear myself properly - only from inside if you get what I mean. GP was treating me for eutashcian tube dysfunction but not getting better. I then entered fibro and E.T.D. on internet and it came up with a medical journal piece of research that linked the 2. Took it to my GP and she referred me to ENT. Had range of tests and consultant concluded it was my fibro, nothing wrong with ears. As she explained there's a valve at end of eut.tube. As with all other muscles/ligaments etc fibro can affect that one too so it doesn't work properly as "tired". The normal treatment to clear tube won't affect it at all. I eventually noticed a pattern and it was affecting me more with migraines as part of sensory symptoms. When my amitriptyline dose was increased to deal with that it went away. Only get problem occasionally now.
I have crhonic pain and cfs not Fibro. (So many symptoms similar though). But have noticed that ear gets cotton wool feeling when I have gone beyond my energy envelop. And pain levels are rising.
I take it as a warning to stop before I crash.
