Crushing pain in hands

Please help! has anyone else experienced crushing pain in the hands. It's like some one has them in a woodworking vice. The pain is enough to wake me at night and is excruciating. Enough making me cry. It's similar to frost bite. It started in one hand and now is in both. My dr looks at me as if I'm crazy and then says it must be your fibro . My hands are slightly swollen particularly around joints. I don't know where to turn even my pain meds are not touching it. Please help I'm getting no answers.

Hi there, it's nice to meet you and welcome you to our group I suffer with exactly what you described and have done for many years. I can tell you my hand pain is not fibro it is OA. Osteoarthritis tends to start in the small joints like the fingers and toes. My fingers are very swollen, painful and have ugly painful nodes on the first joint of my fingers. And my hands cause me great pain.

In my opinion if you have any of this going on I would try seeing another GP for a second opinion.

Like Dizzytwo mine is primarily caused by osteoarthritis and I have the same symptoms as her.I must admit the fibro seems to be adding to it as the muscles in my hands ache as well. Sometimes I get terrible shooting pains in them which is a disaster if am holding anything as it usually ends up on the floor. Sometimes I find freeze gel gently massaged in can help me.x
