Hi, I have a nightmare in three weeks for an assessment for PIP and I am very worried as last time the doctor was aggressive and very rude and I have mental health problems and had a fit and he had to leave. I was on DLA and lost it. However, a very good person helped me get it back but then two years later lost again and they wanted to do the assessment and the doctor came on the wrong day so we gave up. I was going for operations and couldn't cope anymore so gave up claim. Now we are both claimed as Steve has cancer and other medical things like double incontinent and stoma and neurological problems and I am very worried as he needs more complex surgical and we are waiting.
I am worried about the assessment and I am thinking of video recording it. Then we will have an accurate record. I do have a representative to help.
Thanks.

Currently you are not able to video assessment however you can record it
Your recording equipment must be able to produce two identical copies of the recording at the end of the consultation, either in audio cassette or CD format. You will need to give one copy of the recording to the Health Professional undertaking your consultation, at the end of the consultation.
You must obtain permission to do this before the assessment dont leave it till the day as thay will say no .
I am sure if you have someone to support you it will be OK so try not to worry.
Hiya, sorry to hear what you've been going through *hugs*
As someone pointed out, you can't do video recording.
I had my assessment last week at home, Capita did the assessment, we recorded it but you do need to make sure you ask the assessment company for permission in advance first.
I got two cassette recorders from Argos £24.99 each, which I had delivered, I think it was £3.95 for delivery and my tapes were from Wilko's, you can get a pack of 5 for £4 from there.
Thanks it's in my home and I won't be bothering if I don't get it. I am not going through that hell again and what is the point of waiting six months? Isn't there an appeal process?
I can also tell the health care quack I wish to see what he is writing according to the information from them so let battle commence. I am hoping my husband just gets his and claim carers allowance. I think I need to tell them his incontinence is worse since operations and now he has his six to eight large pads a day mim. I think he put 3 or 4 but it's more. Last time a quack came to him and then said he couldn't be incontinent as his pad wasn't wet and he didn't smell! That's the whole idea you twit, I thought. I threatened to send his pads after he had used them and they reversed the decision. He got DWP for two years but didn't renew it. He was very reluctant to get PI P and they lost his application in 2015, oh and some brain on the phone didn't know what a coma was. The application was after he came out and we had a nurse every day for 18 months. He was given 1% chance of life and we were told to say goodbye. Now he had radio therapy and his incontinence much worse and will be for some time. I have mental health problems as well as number of physical ones so I will do recording. I am also asking someone who is our therapeutic therapists to sit with us. She is very good and help a lot. I am now more confident thanks but I will be recording as I don't feel safe with them again. I was abused once by one, never again. You might be visiting me in jail but their quack isn't going to lie or abuse me again.
Just had my PIP review and have been awarded both standard rates again. I approached it by looking at the criteria and listing every aid I used. I took this list into the assessment to help me remember and crossed off each point as I mentioned it. Have realised now that it is just a matter of “playing the game”.
You can say what you like but if you don’t tick the boxes you could miss out.
Hi, yes, I have a list of our aids and why we need them and a copy of our forms. I will be planning this carefully and he or she can come up to my sitting room as that is kitted out for me. I have a link to what they ask as well and feeling much better for it.
