I have finally come of amitriptyline AND TONIGHT Istart on gabapentin i was on amitriptyline for nearly 18yrs it has been very hard to come of them so i had to reduce them with the doctors help but i have done it I take 1 gabapentin at night for 3 nights then go on 2a day one in the morning and one at night then 3 aday 1morning 1lunch time and 1 at night has any one else change from one to the other

healthunlocked.com/fibromya..., I hope the new meds will work better for you , I have changed off one type of meds on to another by weaning from one to another by doctors instructions and happy with the changes that were made , mine was sertraline to duloxtene, take care .ive posted a link above if you would like to lock your posts
Trouble is amitriptyline is still in your system for a long time after stopping it!
It isn't a on/off drug because anything that takes a time to owrk/build up like that is mean't to do lives in the storage layers.
It took me almost 3 months to build up to 3 Gabapentin 3 times a day but it was well worth it. Last week I had a terrible afternoon with sharp pains in my legs and back - I had forgotten my mid day dose. Good luck, I hope it works as well for you x
