I had my appointment today at Bath hospital. The rheumatologist was very thorough, yes it's text book fibro now with added osteoarthritis too, but no more meds to try just keep taking the tramadol and come back to see the physios about pain management, again. A 70 mile round trip that has done me in for nothing. I mentioned my job, that I can't physically do it safely any more and she said see what the physios say! 😩
She said she is glad I'm getting help with my depression as my mood is clearly low.
Low?? I'm at rock bottom. Even my daughter hasn't text me to see how I got on. 😭
I'm so tired and sick to death of it all, there is nothing left.

I'm sorry it was such a disappointing consultation. Sounds about par for the course though unfortunately. All I got was "fibro" written on a piece of paper by the consultant and told to go research it. We don't treat it here so I am discharging you back to your GP" end of story. From 1987 to 2015 not knowing then to be given the diagnosis like that was unforgiveable in my book. I too have osteoarthritis and calcific tendonitis plus a few other bits dropping off! but the way I look at it is I am the same person I was ten minutes before the diagnosis so basically nothing has changed.
Everyone on here will answer more truthfully and with more knowledge any question you care to ask than most medics will do. Feel free to rant, you are still grieving for the person you were. It's finding out what is going to work for you. This can be a long road but equally you may be lucky and find it easily. For me, but remember we are all different, no prescription meds just supplements, no processed foods or refined sugars, heat pads, tens machine, biofreeze, regular (as and when I can afford) chiropractor and hypnotherapy sessions. Wish I could have hydrotherapy but I can't tolerate the cleaning chemicals in the water. I would say that the most helpful thing has been a positive mental attitude and a sense of humour.
Hope you find what works for you and keep visiting the site and asking questions.
So sorry to read your post, I got tired just reading it -. I have no faith anymore in getting any real medical support - tried many different drug all make me worse - I just cope with good diet and as much exercise as I can manage and I have dropped the guilt - which made me bed ridden and so so tired - rest up -look after yourself after an appalling day - tomorrow will look brighter. Neese x
You are not alone in the disrespectful children department. They truly don't have a clue and you wonder where you are in their priorities. I don't know what to tell you about the doctor visit....I've yet to come across anyone in healthcare who actually gives a sh*t. Take care.
I very much understand what you are going through .I take more meds then just the tramadol. I could no longer work at all anymore. I had to go on disability. Hope your spirits are up soon. 😀
Hi Hollypop66 How are you doing? I just got out of hospital because of one of my arthritis meds " methotrexate' after a 10 year use of them they did a number on my lungs. Useing oxygen now. Gonna have to see rheumatologist about med changes now. But I'm sorry I'm rambling on, enough about me. I was just thinking about you and wondering how things are going for you? How are you feeling these days?
I am in the same boat as you with fibromyalgia and extensive osteoarthritis. It is difficult as there is no magic combination of treatments that make all our symptoms melt away?
This forum is wonderful place to vent and share possibilities for treatment or complain about how ineffectual our hospital appointments are?
Hi again, it was Occupational Health that recommended I'll health retire for me. They assess then a report goes to HR for them to follow. If you have access to this service then I'd highly recommend you see them. If the company hasn't automatic access they can pay an OH service for a one off. It helps the company too as they know the score.
