Yes I do. I have severe tinnitus which if I remember right was after an inner ear infection/vertigo when I was 23. 49 now. xx
Good evening Hedgehog67 let me wish you a very warm welcome to the group I have always had sensitive ears. I have to stuff them with cotton wool if we have to go on the motor way for example.

Unfortunately, this seems quite a common symptom of fibromyalgia oversensitivity to noise. I cannot stand coffee machines it actually seems to make the inside of my ears painful I have been known to sit there with my hands over my ears humming to myself if they start one of those machines. Unfortunately, my close friend loves coffee and coffee shops but it is just torture to me. Same with certain kinds of music. I also have tinnitus so have enough noises in my own ears they strike up like an orchestra some days so add that loud or piercing external noises and as you say you honestly find yourself feeling as though your head is exploding.x
Hi Hedgehog and welcome to our happy little band. Yes on occasions I find I either can't hear and have to have things really loud or can't tolerate even whispering. Weird - I call it sensory overload. Sometimes I just have to close my eyes to concentrate on one thing at a time. I, like rosewine and mandypandy, have tinnitus so trying to understand what is outside noise and what isn't easy.
Hi Hedgehog, yes I also find some noises excruciating...I have tinitus which is enough on its own but also like rosewine I find coffee shops and bistro's painful...they all seem to be decorated in chrome and tiles and so all the sounds seem to echo and jumble up ....(that's how I describe it anyway!) Hoping for a retro return to table cloths and curtains for sound absorption!😁
Hi yes me too I often can’t hear but I can’t cope with loud noise or bright lights I struggle all the time it’s awful 😢
I have problems with noise level in one ear,,this is related to Sjorgrens syndrome,I have no earwax and am suseptable to deafness. Failure to near pop when yawning,,does it sound like your problem ?
ask to be reffered to the audiology dept, i know my hearing is impaired ( im 45 ) have had fibro for 30 yrs plus, i also have severe tinitus in both ears, since having hearing aids the tinnitus has gone whist in, you coud try this, just another hurdle to jump..
Finding this thread really interesting - I now have hearing aids as do not hear too well anymore, but eldest daughter appears to have real problems with her ears. She has taken to constantly wearing soft sponge ear protectors over the past 10 years or so, and when travelling on a plane (2 holidays abroad), she was crying on plane with pain in ears, despite sucking on various sweets that we tried out following my researching possible ways to ease this following first journey).
However, she was only 1lb 15ozs when born, so possibly may have something to do with that?
Yes I also have this problem. I often have to leave shops because of the noise.
