Have Other’s Been told No Referal’s for Fibromyalgia to Pain Clinic? At our Local Hospital. !!
A lot of the pain clinics have had funds cut and thier are very long waiting lists in most areas so yes it does happen .
You can ask for a referral to any hospital so may wish to go back to GP and mention this .
Thanks Rose54 my GP mentioned it for new referrals! I was omitted recently have Spinal problems after Op in 2016 have damage etc.
Had acute incident with complications.. But was referred as routine for another appointment. No idea when that will be! As others said very Long Waiting Lists etc! I was very shocked that Fibromyalgia was No Longer being Assessed in the Pain Clinic!! Just put Post up to see if Others have had been Told Same information!!
A worrying Situation for All Concerned....
I have been told that I cannot have any referral to any department in regard my fibromyalgia I told my gp my problem isn’t related to the fibro but with my back that is crumbling (has been diagnosed) even though I have developed further symptoms I can’t even go back to the rheumatology dept absolute joke if I’m honest.
My doctor referred me to pain clinic & they wudnt see me ,then a yr ago they referred me again n I was seen & to be honest it made no difference I was still in pain & it was a complete waste of time
Though I'm in the United States I have been told numerous times that any referral to another doctor that involves Fibro will be rejected. One doctor was actually quite candid. Told me that patients with Fibro are near impossible to help, because they have no idea what causes it. And because doctors have to spend so much time with Fibro patients it takes time away from other patients they can actually help. Imagine if you will. Your situation is too difficult and you're sitting in the waiting room waiting to be called. Finally, your name is called. Then you hear, oh, wait a minute, you have Fibro, doctor can't help you. Next patient please!!
Of course it won't happen that way, but its essentially the same thing when you're being rejected based solely on the difficulty of your illness and I HAVE been rejected for that. Very frustrating indeed.
google icope to see if there is a group in your area. I got on a six week pain management course through self referral. The fibro clinic suggested it. Good luck
