Sorry to say that my experience was dire! In a large proportion of fibro sufferers, according to research, they have suffered abuse - physical or mental - in the past. My ex was verbally abusive so it was linked to that! The skin was 'stretched' over my sore joints and I was told to Google tai Chi. The hydrotherapy pool was just down the corridor but I was never offered use of it! Final straw came when, as I described nerve pain in the soles of my feet, was told 'it was something trying to get out'. Cue complaint to hospital, reply received, never offered alternative physio or pain clinic. I sincerely hope you do much better than me xx

I sometimes have a feeling like there is a stone or a hard ball underneath the arch of my feet. What on earth would they call that ? I think the less you tell them the better

Try to push for sessions in the hydro pool, you get a specialist physio, its not swimmng at all, its gentle stretching with appliances and I have used it for 7 years now with good effect my legs are the worst

I saw a physio in a specialist fibro clinic and she said the best therapies are "hands off" so swimming/hydrotherapy, tai chi and the like. Personally, and also because of osteoarthritis too, I see a chiropractor experienced with fibro patients and he knows exactly where muscle stretches are needed and where to avoid. He uses a machine which will massage the muscles but is totally controllable so on good days I get a really deep massage and on others it doesn't go as deep - to avoid having to peel me off the ceiling :) It's just a case of finding what works for you. Good luck - hope you get some relief whichever route you go down.

My experience wasn't great. Every time I went I'd be given another handful of leaflets about how to manage my pain, pacing, diet etc etc but nothing actually got done. There was a hydrotherapy pool there but I never got to use it. I gave up going after 6 months as it was a long drive from home so cost me a fortune in petrol but more so the cost of me being wiped out for days after using up so much energy getting there and back. I hope your experience is much more positive!

I found them helpful, they encouraged movement and exercise. Although I went through the pain management clinic and I can not recommend them at all.

I’m starting my pain management program in October for three weeks and will be having hydrotherapy three times a week for three weeks so am quite positive about it.🙂
