So I've been living with Fibromyalgia for over a decade but only diagnosed in December 2017. I've pretty much accepted that pain is just a constant part of daily life but the falling asleep is costing me my job possibly. Does anyone have any tips or treatment suggestions to help with the fatigue and drowsiness?

Hi I find when I work the fatigue and tiredness is awful . But unfortunately like other people have said it comes with this horrible condition. The only thing I can suggest is pace your self and when you know you have to work try and rest up more if you are feeling tired if it's only an hour here and there it does help.take care Kim x

I have the same problem being exhausted all the time but I don’t fall asleep. I lay awake tossing and turning all night I also suffer with very hot feet and hands all year round so when we have weather like we are having now it’s ten times worse. It feels like the heat is creeping up my legs. I have a fan in full blast and im next to the open windows I have tried cool pads fell pads and all sorts of things and nothing helps. I did hear that if you eat a banana in the afternoon it’s full of the good stuff and gives you a pick me up but I don’t know if that really helps with the exhaustion or if it’s just an old wives tale but maybe it’s worth a try for you. Good luck.

I’m sorry to hear you are suffering this way, as previously said it is part of the condition unfortunately, I know how you feel as I work too and get chronic fatigue doing the simplest of jobs xx pacing yourself is good advice and talking to your employer about how the best effects you also may help? I have at work and we may finally be getting some air con, as for sleeping at night to get to sleep I sometimes use an app that has the sounds out the sea on it, I know it sounds daft but it does work for me if only to get a couple of hours sleep xx

Hi have you had your VitD and Vit B checked. You will have exhaustion with Fibro but if you have low Vit count this will cause excruciating exhaustion. Sending gentle hugs 🤗

I got rid of the tiredness and the brain fog by firstly going to a hyperbaric chamber and breathing oxygen at twice normal atmospheric pressure.for an hour at a time. I went for 80 sessions as close together as possible, i.e. every day and now I go once a week.

There is a study done by a university in tel aviv that put fibro sufferers in a hyperbaric chamber breathing oxygen at twice normal atmospheric pressure for one and a half hours a day for 2 months and it claimed to cure 75 percent of the people involved.

For me it cured the tiredness and early morning brain fog but did not get rid of the pain, however I also eat a mediterranean diet and take a few supplements and herbs to help with inflammation and energy which have resulted in an increase in energy and a reduction in pain levels. I also go to the gym every 2 days and stretch which keeps me mobile. I found the hyperbaric chamber at an M.S charity centre,{ as they use it to delay the onset of M.S.} and jpoined as a member to be able to use the chamber. As a supplement coenzyme Q10 has really helped with my energy levels, I use mitoq as I think it is more effective. It took about 6 weeks and I noticed a distinct difference. Hope that is of some use.

Thanks for the replies. Defo gonna give the banana a go and ask for a fan in work. I've been off sick for 3 weeks now and I need to get back for fear of losing my job. Lovely thing to spark off the anxiety. It's so difficult trying to just do regular every day stuff without being in pain or exhausted. My wife just doesn't get it at all.

The only thing that helps me is Provigil, generic, or the newer one Nuvigil which actually works better but more pricey....I was able to just use 1/2 or less. Hope it can work for you.

P.S. Have you been tested for Epstein Barr virus which causes fatigue. I have it and it's active. It can also go dormant which I'm hoping for. Never heard of it until Dr. tested for it in blood testing. Don't know how I got it. It's related to monouculosis, and I don't remember having that. Could it be the basis for Fibro. or Chronic Fatigue?
