A big thanks to everyone who answered my post,just new to the site and not really sure how to use it yet. I was diagnosed with fybromyalgia about 2 and a half years ago and have just been getting worse. I have a dr that seems to know little about it, was sent to reumatolagist told I had it, then she said she would write to my doctor and that she wouldn’t have to see me again, medication not really doing much. I work full time but I am really struggling. I have had a lot of time off and have now applied for pip , but from what I am reading about other people I don’t know whether I will get it or not or if I should reapply it I get turned down, that’s why I was asking if it was classed as a disability or not.lhave never spoken to anyone who has fybromyalgia and it helps to see that I am not alone in my struggle because I do feel alone and feel I am making my family and friends miserable watching me. But I am sure reading other people’s comments will not make me feel alone anymore. Thanks again hope everyone has had good day 😘

Disability
Hi
You can only try and see what happens you have nothing to lose.
If you don't succeed you can ask for a Mandatory Decision and after that you go to a tribunal.
PIP is for help you have or need with care and for mobility
some may have Fibro but manage well while others are mobility impaired and have care needs . No benefits in UK are awared on a disability only on what help you need
I would suggest you talk to your employer and ask if thay can make any adjustments in the workplace for you as this could help .
Also you may wish to look at reducing your hours financially you may not be much worse off as wont pay so much Tax or NI
Thay have tightened up a lot on claims but I wish you luck let us know how you get on

Welcome to the FMAUK Community ! Which I hope you will find is a helpful and supportive place to be ! There's lots of posts to read and many lovely members to talk to about Fibro.
If you have not already done so, please take a look at the FMA UK website fmauk.org where you will find much more information, plus the opportunity to request a patient information pack or health professionals pack.
As a newbie, please can I mention that members prefer to answer posts that are locked to this community only. If you wish to do this, here's a link that explains how to do it;

Regarding fibromyalgia as a disabilty .... it is not regarded as a disability. however, for some people the symptoms can be so severe that they affect their ability to manage day to day activities and can be disabling to the individual. If your symptoms are severe, you will also be classed as having a disability under the terms of the Equality Act 2010.
PIP is based on how your condition affects you - not the actual condition you have. I would suggest that you get help and support to complete the form from CAB or welfare rights officer/organisation. FMA UK has a benefits advisor who can also give you more information on applying.
I hope you enjoy being part of our community
