Lack of sleep

Hi all, I am struggling to sleep due to the pain being so intense. I am now so tried that I struggle to get through the day, which affects my work.

Does anyone have any advise, with how I can deal with this or anything I could try which might help a little?

Do you find the sleeping tablets work? I have had to reduce my hours as my pain is getting worse. I just really don’t want to be signed off, I enjoy work and I’m only 24. Everything feels so limited at the the moment

I take nortriptyline at night to help with the pain and sleep, it does help, not always, but it means I am getting more sleep than I was.

I’m assuming this has to be prescribed. I must admit I’ve never heard of this before

Yes it is prescribed, it is similar to amitriptyline, an old style anti depressant that when given in much lower doses than for depression helps with sleep and nerve pain. I didn't get on with ami and switched to nortrip as it seems to have fewer side effects.

Have you tried herbal stuff. I find kalms good, take 2 of the ordinary kalms, light blue packet, night version more expensive. Also try deep breathing from belly and a soothing background noise, music or sound of beach waves you can get on line. I find it soothing but OH not so!
