I have just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I dont know where to start I really am confussed about this. For 17 years I have suffered extremely painful legs and feet which tingled painfully with pins and needles and vibrations. Lately its my arms and hands and my face and neck. I suffer with bulging discs and colitis. My GP had done nothing in 17 years so I went to see Rhuematologist privately and was diagnosed in 30 minutes!. I am on 300 mg gabapentin and go to see GP tomorrow for more medications?? I have also been diagnoses with fallen arches due to ankles rolling in and my ankles are so painful that I could almost chop off my feet. Can someone if you ate still reading help me with this condition please as my head is all fussy since leaving the private doctor I dont get what exactly is thos condition? I dont have any sensitive pressure points??
Thank you so much

Hi @Pinny P, I am sorry you have been diagnosed with fibro, it can be bewildering especially if you don't know much about it. It is quite a complex condition therefore it may be helpful if you check out our main site as there is plenty of useful information and links on there. If you click on the following:
and look down the right-hand side under "Most Read Content" you will see the the topics "What is Fibromyalgia" and "Information Packs". There is an information booklet produced by FMAUK that is available to view online or you can request a printed version from Head office that should help give you a better understanding of the condition. You will also receive lots of helpful advice and support from our friendly members however I notice you haven’t locked your post. You don't have to but many of our members are not too keen on responding to unlocked ones therefore you are likely to receive more replies if you do, as it prevents the whole thread being read by internet search engines. Instructions on how to do this can be found on the link below but if you get stuck please don’t hesitate to ask for help.
Sorry to hear you have Fibromyalgia but it can be a relief to finally have an explanation.
Re the fallen arches you may benefit from a mouldered insole. It is best to get one moulded to you feet if you can. Ask in a local shoe shop if they know of any shops that do this. Otherwise you can buy premade ones in boots or online.
For pain relief I find Linnex is brilliant, better than any pain killer. It’s only available on line, just google it. It is very intense heat so be very sparing with it, start with just a dab and build up to see what your tolerance is. My daughters pain consultant checked the ingredients and is fine.
Also I would recommend reading love the life you live now by Phil,Parker. He describes a technique called the Lightning Process which can help with managing pain and retraining your brain pathways. My daughter did the course and it has transformed her life. She was in bed most of the time due to pain, constantly hooked up to heat pads and now she has a part time job and is doing open university! If you can afford the course it is well worth it but it is expensive.
Magnesium and high dose vit D also worth a try.
I pray you get some relief.
When you see your GP I would ask for a thorough blood test and get a copy of the results yourself.
When I first went to my GP they tested bloods and said everything was normal. No, it wasn't. My B12 and D were low, within the range but only just. I treated myself with guidance from the Heakth Unlocked Pernicious Anemia site and my symptoms improved tremendously. Tinnitus, hand trembling, loss of balance and air hunger disappeared after a few weeks of injections.
I can now see that the B12 def symptoms and fibro symptoms were overlapping. Look at your blood tests and see if any are at the edge of the "normal" range ( numbers in brackets after your result figure.)
I found for the feet and leg burning magnesium oil helps. I rub it into the soles of my feet, leave for a minute or two, then wipe off. Or soak in a bath with Epson salts or Magnesium flakes.
Hi everyone thank you for your replies and advice I shall certainly look into. Ive been to GP and he has now said although Rheumatolgist said fibromyalgia he is saying its Chronic pain syndrome and mobility syndrome. I had an entire hour with this GP and came out so upset as he is a very difficult dr to speak with and he had me confused as hell. He recons my severe ankle pain is part of the syndome and nothing to do with my arches flattening and ankles rotating in. He has upped my gabapentin tp 400 x3 daily but not to start until next week. Im in horrific pain in my ankles. He told me not to bother with aniflamatorys as there is no swelling. ?? I am in such pain i feel like taking an axe and chopping my feet and ankles off!!
