Why you shouldn't cook when you have brain fog...

chronicallyfabulous profile image

So, yesterday evening I was helping my partner with dishing up our dinner as I wanted to try and be helpful.

Turns out that's not such a great idea when you have brain fog..

I opened the oven to get our food out and put my bare hand in to grab the oven tray, genius, I know!!!

Luckily my partner noticed and managed to stop me before I had actually grabbed the tray and made me put oven gloves on.

You'd think I would have noticed that my hand was rather warm as soon as I put it in the oven but clearly not!

Brain fog - one of the many reasons I hate Fibro.

Oh god, I know, I tend to forget I've got things cooking, its usually the brunt smell that reminds me. The amount of pans I've ruined!!! It could be worse.

Yes definitely know the feelilng well. I did exactly the same thing. Something told me I should be remembering to do something but couldn't for the life of me remember what until the hand grabbed the baking tray. Blisters for ages and one very sore hand :( I've also stood at the microwave looking at the keypad and put in my pin number. I have also turned into what I thought was my house wondering why someone had painted it pink when it turned out to be the house in the next road along. Scary stuff !

Did the members of that household see you pull into their drive? I’ve tried to unlock someone else’s front door before, luckily they weren’t in 😂 Hope your hand healed well and you don’t have any lasting effects from your incident xx

Nobody saw me thank goodness. Still feel very silly about it as anyone who hasn't got fibro can't understand it! Hand is fine now thanks :)

Anybody who hasn’t got fibro can’t understand any of the things we go through, but we do have each other and since joining this app and group, I honestly feel more normal and positive than I have in a very long time!

Besides all the best people are mad 🙈

agree absolutely - tried being normal and it was the worst five minutes of my life!

I hear you. I put the grill handle on then put my hand in/under the grill to turn my pitta. Burning flesh stuck to the elements doesn’t half smell.

Makes you feel like such a genius doesn’t it? I’m pretty sure on brain fog days that’s a rhesus monkey has more brain capacity than I. X

Hello!

I think it’s always better for dinner to be over cooked than for your skin to be over cooked but that’s just a personal preference, lol! X

Sorry I can't help but giggle when I read these comments, I find this brain fog a pain in the ****, the amount of times I've made a cup of tea and put it in the fridge instead of the milk is un real 😀

Forget what I'm talking about mid conversation, forgetting my pin number at till, the list goes on, I give people a right good laugh. ....myself included with some things , I suppose it's part of learning to except things xx

I completely agree. It’s a pain in the arse but gosh it gives you some right good laughs 😂

Hope you’re keeping well xx

Few weeks ago, getting ready for bed, got a wipe out of the pack to clean my face. Slowly, I thought I don't remember these being lemon scented as ouch the sting started on my face. Don't try to clean your face with Flash bathroom wipes.........

chronicallyfabulous in reply to

That doesn’t sound advisable, although I’m sure your lemon scented face is still wonderful! :)
