Hi. Please try not to worry. If you are asked to do anything that causes you pain, I found it better to say I couldn't do it. I used my crutch, though normally wouldn't have done for such a short walk. I am afraid it's a question of telling the absolute truth about your incapacities rather than playing them down.

I was asked if I could carry an empty box across the room. I said no as I have bad arthritis in my hands and whichever way I had carried the box would have caused me bad pain.

I cant say there were trick questions, but after the assessment he watched me walk all along the corridor to the front door, almost as if he was checking to see if I used my crutch all the way.

A GP's letter will help, I always ask my GP for a letter, then I take all letters from previous hospital appointments. The last assessor I had was really nice and I had a good report from him.

Good luck.

Hi traceybarker, I had my letter a few weeks ago for my assessment and to say I've been stressed about it is an understatement. ..I did however arrive ar the centre today not knowing what to expect, but I had a lovely lady, she was very pleasant, did a lot of typing 😯 going through conditions, medication symptoms, and how it affects daily life, at the end she asked if I minded standing up and doing a few tasks , a couple I couldn't do and the rest as best as I could , felt quite embarrassed that I couldn't do some simple things......but she was very understanding, I came away cursing myself for stressing x
