Well I have bit the bullet today whilst in work and went to see the HR dept. My choice..

Told them how much I struggling in work even though I have cut my hours down to 2 long days I cannot see how much longer I can continue to work before they sack me for my sickness record.

Have worked and paid my taxes for 45 years but I now need some help.

They seemed very nice but who no.

Getting reffered to occy health in 2 weeks then will start the ball rolling.

They mentioned I could possibly open up my NHS pension bit early if I get medically retirement.

So will keep you guys updated as and when things happen. Hopefully in my favour,

I also have osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis on top of fybromyalgia.

Personally I think you’ve made the right decision Hun. You’ve got so much going on health wise that I’m surprised you’re still working! Good luck with it all and I hope you get the right decision in your favour. Take care and gentle hugs to you xx

Morning

I went down the same road a few years ago with Fibromyalgia.

Speaking only about my experience it was a long road to go down with several meetings with Occupational Health, Physio, Cognitive behaviour therapy, assessments by independent doctors but in the end proved worthwhile as I was granted early retirement due to my condition which allowed choices for my pension. Later on referred for PIP assessments which also helps provide me with benefits.

I hope everything goes smoothly for you and if I can be of any help just ask.

I had to go off sick.was 3 mths full 0ay then 3 months half.then when that ran out got letter asking to come in for chat. They couldn't offer me can lesser position so was released .I had to sign on which was disastrous as I couldn't do job with hands.they helped me get ESA and DLA which went onto PIPS .I could of claimed works pension early at 55 but it only meant just about £230 a year as been there 12 years. So I suppose it depends how long you have worked in NHS to what you will get

I'd suggest you get some legal advice before making any decisions.

Also contact remploy... Government agency to help disabled people get or stay in work.

Good luck

Hi- Hun- I medically retired from NHS last year with fibro being the main culprit, I got a lot of support from occ health Nurse and Union rep. it was a long journey I pulled my NHS pension at age 61 I took a lump sum and have a small monthly income which does go up pennies each year. I had to contest my pension to Tier 2 with help and support from occ health , union gp and consultants it cost me for written help but it was worth it, persevere, maybe get a pension forecast first, I have PIP, ESA and nhs pension, the 3 together are almost the same as my income was, I also now get my C.tax paid (that comes with PIP) and ESA is income based, some of my work colleagues retired age 55 on full pension they had been with nhs all their working lives so it was well worth it.. good luck let us know how you progress
