Hi im a Mum and Grand-mum, I have Fibromyalgia and Ostio Arthritis of the spine and hips as well as a few other probs onboard. I am facing PIP Assesment soon, next week infact and im nervous about it, ive heard of all the horror stories about how they asses us and the trick questioning they use to make sure we don't pass regardless of our needs, has anyone else been through the process ?, if so how did it go for you ?.. I use a frame or crutches in the house but if i go out its in the wheel chair which i hate. the pain is such from both conditions that i actually only leave the house for hospital visits or doctors over the past two years.. I have an adult daughter at home, without her i would'nt cope as my husband is also disabled and I also have and 11yr old son who has ADHD.

Hi Hun, welcome to our lovely and friendly forum. You chose a great one to join. Everyone on here are fabulous. I suffer from fibro and a benign cystic tumour. I walk with a crutch as the tumour makes me struggle to walk. I need a lot of assistance from my children. I'm pretty much housebound and like you I only tend to leave the house for the Drs or hospital appointments. I had to attend a pip assessment too. I must admit they were pretty good with me and actually quite human lol. Good luck with it all and let us know how you get on. Take care and try not to stress about it all too much xx

Hello fibro_mum and a very warm welcome to our friendly group :) I had my pip assessment earlier this year it was an home assessment . She was here for almost 2 hours but very nice and understanding. I was lucky she was what she appeared to be honest and genuine. May i just point out you have not locked your post. Welcome to the FMAUK Community fibro_mum ! :)

I am a Fibro mum too and many of the community are too! We understand what it is like living with Fibro 24/7 and many of the mums on here will be able to relate to your situation as you mention others in the family unit that are also disabled. It sounds like your wonderful daughter is extremely helpful and supportive to you all.

Regarding your benefit claim I am sure members of the community will share their experiences with you and offer top tips. You may also like to consider getting advice for help with your benefit claims and you may wish to use the FMAUK Benefits Helpline, contact information and other useful websites that may help can be found in the link below;

I am sorry to hear of your struggles, sounds like you have a lot to cope with hun but I'm glad you have a supportive daughter to help you out. I have never had to go for a PIP assessment personally but from reading the accounts from those who have, they are not all bad and some of the assessors are even nice (as Mo has mentioned in her reply). I wish you luck with the process but in the meantime you have come the right place to receive lots of help and support, so welcome to the forum lovely. xxx
