Tilodol

I was given Tramodol by my doctor in France with only slight ill effect. However since moving back to England I am been given Tilodol ( same doseage) but this makes me nauseous). My doctor says it is the same, but my body says no.

Sorry to hear you are experiencing increased side effects with this medication and I am unsure why this should be as from the information via link below it is the same drug. See link;

I wonder if it will improve or maybe it is coincidental with a recent bug or food sensitivity. I would see how it goes and if it continues, consider mentioning it to your GP again.

Hi Maerie, I don't know if this is going to make sense as my brain doesn't want to cooperate today but I'll try anyway. There are different brands of a drug that all have the same magic ingredient that deal with the pain (in this case tramadol). But they are also made up of other ingredients to form the pill or capsule or whatever. So maybe there is something in this particular brand that upsets your stomach. I've had different brands of a drug just by going to a different pharmacist with my prescription.

I've just pulled out my box of Tramadol which seems to be generic brand made by Bristol Labs.

Here are my 'other' ingredients : microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycoliate, magnesium stearate and silica colloidal anhydrous.

The capsule shell contains : gelatin, sodium lauryl sulphate, methyl parahydroxy benzoate (E218) and proply parahydroxy benzoate (E216) and colours E132, E172,, E171.

What 'other' ingredients does your Tilodol have? Are they the same as my generic tablets or different? Maybe that holds the answer to your nausea ... or not. Just a thought

Good point ! Could be a change in the coating ? As notmebutme says maybe worth looking at the ingredients for your capsules outer coating...... do keep as posted

Yes I agree the Bristol brand are cheap and nasty ask pharmacist for another brnad I,ve now got "Mephar" mypharmacist tells me all sorts of additves are in most drugs there is only about 2% real maccoy.

I had a bad reaction to a make of tramadol- its the "Bristol" made version that seems to have unpleasant additives- ask your pharmacist if they can get you another brand to try.
